It was released theatrically by Universal Pictures on December 5, 2025. Here's the official synopsis as per IMDb:

The film has an end-credit scene that sets up the world for a potential third installment. Let's take a look at that.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 end-credits hints at a threequel
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 ends with Vanessa Shelly getting possessed by Marionette. This sets her up for a potential third instalment. In the post-credit scene, we see the springtrap suit getting stolen by three mysterious men. All this while William Afton's body is still inside it. This is yet another hint of his return.
Mike also listens to audio message by Henry Emily where he is warned about the Marionette. This message also hints that they will reunite once again. Meanwhile, Abby is focused on setting Vanessa free from Charlotte's spirit. This can lead her to join the group to fight against Michael and William.
All these points hint towards a third entry where we might get to see the backstory of William and Henry. If a threequel happens, viewers will see how the animatronics were made and the origin of the toy. There is also a third entry in the video game series that the makers can directly adapt.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is produced by Scott Cawthon and Jason Blum under the banners of Scott Cawthon Productions and Blumhouse Productions, respectively. It's an adaptation of the namesake survival horror video game that came out in 2014. The film is shot by Lyn Moncrief while Timothy Alverson and Derek Larsen are the editors. The Newton Brothers have composed the score.
