Here's how Brad Pitt ended up having a cameo in Deadpool 2
The Ryan Reynolds-starrer Deadpool 2 had a brief cameo from Brad Pitt. According to CBR, in an interview with Happy Sad Confused, director David Leitch revealed that Pitt was initially considered for the role of Cable (eventually played by Josh Brolin). He revealed,
"Ryan and I went to pitch Brad. We had concept art, and it's sort of how the Vanisher cameo came to life. Because I think he entertained it for a bit and I know his schedules wouldn't allow it to happen, so he came and did the cameo for fun."
Deadpool 2 is written by Ryan Reynolds, Paul Wernick, and Rhett Reese. Reynolds has also produced it with Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner. The cast members of the film include:
- Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool
- Josh Brolin as Cable
- Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle
- Julian Dennison as Russell Collins aka Firefist
- Zazie Beetz as Domino
- T.J. Miller as Weasel
- Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead
- Jack Kesy as Black Tom Cassidy
Reynolds first portrayed Deadpool in 2009, in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where the character appears briefly and has his mouth completely stitched. He appeared in the lead role in the 2016 film Deadpool, which turned out to be a critical and commercial success, and was followed by Deadpool 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine.
In Deadpool & Wolverine, Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine, a character he had retired from after Logan. Just like its previous installment, Deadpool & Wolverine was also a success. In a Variety interview, Reynolds spoke about reuniting with Jackman. He said,
"The first time we worked together on “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” it’s easy to say we got some things wrong. Deadpool sewing up his mouth was one of the all-time foolish studio notes. But at the same time, I’m so grateful for it. Hugh was a huge influence on me. It was the first time I saw how a movie star operates on set, and it defied all the preconceived notions for a movie star. He was so warm and welcoming."
