Former Detroit Lions cornerback Ramzee Robinson has recently sued the Kansas City Chiefs for wrongfully terminating him and also accused them of racial discrimination. The 41-year-old Robinson, who was hired by the Kansas City Chiefs as the director of player engagement, had worked for the team for almost ten years.

While he was a college football player at Alabama University, Ramzee Robinson was the last one to be picked up by the Detroit Lions during the NFL draft in 2007. Robinson, who was nicknamed Mr. Irrelevant, joined the Detroit Lions in June 2007, as he signed a three-year contract. The former cornerback worked for the Lions until February 2025.

The lawsuit against the Kansas City Chiefs that was filed by Ramzee Robinson in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri on June 15, 2025, was thoroughly assessed by People Magazine. According to the lawsuit, Robinson's boss made accusations against him of striking one of his female colleagues, after which he was terminated in February 2025.

As per Robinson's lawsuit, his boss claimed she witnessed the alleged incident on security cameras. When Ramzee requested the Chiefs' officials to show him the video, they refused. Ramzee Robinson's lawyer, Katrina Y. Robertson, informed People Magazine that:

"(Ramzee) unequivocally denies having been in an altercation with anyone."

Robertson, in a statement, said

"My client dedicated years of professional service to the Chiefs organization and supported players through critical personal and professional challenges. This lawsuit seeks to hold the organization accountable for the systemic inequities and retaliation he faced for simply demanding fairness."

Robinson, in his lawsuit, not only claimed that his termination from his job as the director of player engagement for the Kansas City Chiefs was based on racial discrimination, but the former NFL player also alleged that:

"The Chiefs paid African-American business employees less than their white counterparts."

Ramzee Robinson's lawsuit stated that his annual remuneration was $125,000. Through his research, he found out that other NFL teams paid their employees much more for a similar position. His lawsuit stated that:

"(Ramzee) has and will continue to suffer from emotional distress, lost wages, including front and back pay and other benefits, reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs necessary for litigation.”

On the other hand, Brad Gee, who is the spokesman for the Kansas City Chiefs, refused to make any comments due to the ongoing litigation. He informed People Magazine that:

The team is looking "forward to the facts of this case coming to light."

Gee further added:

"To be clear, the Chiefs do not tolerate discrimination of any kind."

The former NFL cornerback, Ramzee Robinson, besides playing for the Detroit Lions also played for other teams such as the Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington Redskins.
