A publicist, who previously worked in Kanye West, aka Ye’s, company, Yeezy, is now seeking approx $100K as attorney fees. The incident goes back to February 2025, when the Yeezy publicist, who was named Jane Doe, filed a lawsuit against West, alleging that the rapper made disturbing comments, targeting her Jewish identity.

According to Rolling Stone, Jane Doe claimed that when she joined the company, the rapper sent her messages like:

“Welcome to the first day of working for H*tler.”

This was one of the several instances that she allegedly encountered. However, when she brought the issue to her manager, she was reportedly sacked from the company.

Following her legal complaint, Kanye West filed a counter lawsuit claiming that Jane Doe tried to hinder his right to express his artistic vision. According to the suit:

“Ye is not merely a creator; he is art. Ye’s public and private personas form a continuous, provocative performance that challenges societal taboos surrounding race, religion, gender, power, politics, and censorship.”

His motion was dismissed in late June 2025 by Judge Theresa M. Traber, who said that his counter-motion had several shortcomings, which attempted only to delay the process. Based on that, Kanye West was reportedly obliged to pay Jane Doe’s legal fees and expenses. Rolling Stone notes that the amount she seeks from the rapper is $99,720, for which a hearing on September 12 has been scheduled.

The lawyer, Carney Shegerian, who represented Jane Doe, was from Shegerian & Associates. According to Black Promoters Collective, a court filing reads:

“Plaintiff seeks attorney’s fees for 106.7 hours of work, which represents reasonable time actually spent opposing a half-baked anti-SLAPP motion.”

Jane Doe’s lawyer called Kanye West a bully

In February 2025, Carney Shegerian shared a statement regarding Jane Doe’s lawsuit, saying Kanye West mistreated his client and made hateful comments about Jewish people. Shegerian believed West should not be let off the hook for his behaviour as a father, husband, and boss.

Since West challenged the woman to take legal action, the lawyer said they would take him to court. In their court filing, they wrote:

“He is a bully with tens of millions of followers on social media, with children and adults who watch and listen to him. He uses his social media platforms to bully anyone who disagrees with him, spew hate speech only to disingenuously apologize for it repeatedly when he wants to promote his music, concerts or merchandise.”

Before getting fired from Yeezy, Kanye West allegedly sent Jane Doe messages in a threatening tone, implying what she would do against him. He reportedly commented on her appearance and called himself H*tler, asking her to destroy him.

According to the lawsuit, West mistreated Jane Doe just because she was Jewish. The legal papers said he kept trying to scare and upset Jewish people, especially her.

The lawsuit also included texts where West, through his manager, sent rude and mean messages to the plaintiff. Kanye West told her never to show him anything he couldn’t control and then insulted her looks, her clothes, and even dared her to sue him.
