Rapper GloRilla, who was arrested on drug charges last week, is now turning the incident into merchandise. She featured her mugshot on a t-shirt for her Glo Bash concert event on July 25 at FedExForum in Memphis.
A black t-shirt featuring the hip-hop star’s recent mugshot, priced at $40, was among the other merch displayed. The t-shirt is also available for purchase on GloRilla’s official website.
The rapper was arrested on felony drug charges the night before her performance at the WNBA All-Star Game. The arrest came after police responded to a burglary report at her home in Atlanta in July 20.
As per the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office’s confirmation to Atlanta’s WSB-TV, authorities responded to a call about a burglary. The incident took place at a home owned by the rapper at around 1:30 a.m. Woods was in Indianapolis at the time to perform at the WNBA All-Star Game.
According to the sheriff’s office, three suspects entered the home but were deterred after an unidentified individual fired at them. The burglars reportedly left unharmed. While the deputies were investigating the incident, they smelled marijuana and called a drug task force. As a result, they found a “significant amount of marijuana” in the rapper’s bedroom closet.
GloRilla criticizes arrest after home invasion leaves her as the only one detained
After investigators found a “significant amount of marijuana” at GloRilla’s residence. As a result, the rapper was charged with possession of marijuana and controlled substance. She voluntarily surrendered to Forsyth County authorities on July 22. The rapper was released on a $22,260 bond.
Sheriff Ron Freeman, while speaking to WSB-TV, said:
”The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice. At the same time, we must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case."
The rapper took to social media to criticize the police for arresting her and said:
"Long story short my house gets home invaded and I'm the only one that gets arrested."
She also went on to comment about the invasion and said:
"While I was in Indianapolis performing for the WNBA all star game & instead of focusing on finding the suspects, they focus on some cannabis."
The rapper’s lawyers, in a statement, noted that her arrest is a “disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become.” They also added that the police, instead of investigating the “violent home invasion and theft,” “sought a search warrant when they spotted what they believed was a small amount of marijuana.”
