Following a decades-long career in Hollywood, Glynn Turman has been honored with his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Turman, who is also a Broadway star with a 66-year career in show business, became a member of the Hollywood Walk of Fame this Thursday, July 10. Several of his close friends and family were present at the event to cheer him on, including Dawnn Lewis, Kim Fields, and Don Cheadle.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the actor, writer, director, and producer has a net worth of $1.5 million. He began his career at the age of 13 on Broadway, and over the years, he has amassed an array of credits. He has worked on projects like Daktari, Peyton Place, Julia, Room 22, In Search of America, Insight, and Hawaii Five-O.

In his speech on Thursday, Glynn Turman said, per ABC7 News:

"We've held each other up in difficult times, you know? We've been there for one another, you know? And so, here it shows."

Dawnn Lewis chimed in,

"I am just in awe of his continued excellence and his generosity and his humanity, and I couldn't be more proud of my friend."

Don Cheadle, who worked with Turman in the past, also echoed the sentiments:

"Be mindful, never meet your heroes unless, of course, somehow, some way, they turn out to be Mr. Glynn Turman!"

Actress Kim Fields recalled the first time she met Glynn Turman at the age of 12, when he played her dad in a TV movie. "He has been family ever since," she said.

"Being placed next to my mentor, Sir Sidney Poitier, is the icing on the cake," Turman said, before he thanked his wife, family, and friends for attending.

He further added,

“You’ve been a major part of this long journey. Y’all ain’t seen nothing yet. Some of my best lies down at the cigar lounges,” he said, adding, “I think I found a new spot to fire up. Any of y’all want to come along and fire up right here on the corner? … This is my spot.”

Glynn Turman was born on January 31, 1947, in New York City. He made his debut on television with Black Monday, which came out in January 1961. He went on to graduate from The High School of Performing Arts before he landed the secondary cast member's role on the ABC prime-time soap opera Peyton Place. It was in its final season at the time.

His film debut came in 1971, when he starred in Honky. Four years later, he nabbed a role alongside Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs in the 1975 film Cooley High. He has also starred in The Way Back, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Rustin, and 80 For Brady.

One of his most remembered roles, for which he eventually nabbed an outstanding guest actor in a drama series Emmy nomination, was his recurring 2019 role in the ABC show How to Get Away with Murder. He nabbed the same title back in 2008 for his work on HBO’s In Treatment.

“I’m a working actor,” he told Variety last month. “If you didn’t see me on screen or on the tube for a while, you would have seen me off-Broadway, or at the Los Angeles Inner City Cultural Center, or the Mark Taper Forum.”
