Happy Hours is an upcoming trilogy of films directed by Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson. Holmes is an established actress known for movies like Batman Begins, First Daughter, and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.

She made her directorial debut with the 2016 drama All We Had, which she also co-produced and starred in. With her experience as a filmmaker, Holmes' upcoming trilogy is expected to generate interest among her fans. Let's look at all the available information about the project she is leading with Jackson.

Katie Holmes to co-direct Happy Hours

Katie Holmes will write and direct a trilogy of films called Happy Hours. It will star Joshua Jackson, who also appeared in the television series Dawson's Creek, which proved to be Holmes' breakthrough role.

The film will explore the love story between two characters played by Holmes and Jackson. They will have to juggle their personal lives with their careers and responsibilities. The dramedy will be character-driven, focusing on two adults who reconnect after several years.

Besides Holmes and Jackson, the trilogy will also include actors like Constance Wu, John McGinty, Joe Tippett, Mary-Louise Parker, Johnna Dias-Watson, Jack Martin, Nathan Darrow, and Donald Webber Jr.

The first film is set to begin shooting in New York this summer. The second and third films will also start production afterward. Trudie Styler, Celine Rattray, Paula P. Manzanedo, Peter Coleman, Annie Herndon, Jackie Donohoe, Sophia Pedlow, and Jenny Halper are producing the trilogy. The production companies for the films include Bond Street Station, Maven Screen Media, Crown Productions, STX Films, and others.

Holmes and Jackson starred in The WB’s teen drama series Dawson’s Creek for six seasons, from 1998 to 2003. Besides acting, she executive-produced the 2010 rom-com film The Romantics and produced Touched with Fire. Holmes has also written, produced, and directed two recent feature films, 2022's Alone Together and 2023's Rare Objects.

The reunion of Holmes and Jackson in Happy Hours will evoke nostalgia for all viewers who watched them in the television series. Planning them as a trilogy of movies seems ambitious, and we can hope that the first one succeeds to pave the way for the other two projects.
