On December 1, Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton were reunited in New York City to have a special screening of Merrily We Roll Along. Radcliffe starred in the 2023 revival of Merrily We Roll Along by Stephen Sondheim, and Felton attended to support him.

The event was held in the Hudson Theater, where the participants entered the venue. People Magazine documented the moment Radcliffe and Felton met, hugged, and spoke briefly.

The last time the Harry Potter actors had been pictured together was in 2011, at the New York premiere of the last installment of the popular franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton: From co-stars to longtime friends

Daniel Radcliffe and Tom Felton met while filming the first Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, which was released in 2001. Radcliffe played the protagonist, Harry Potter, and Felton portrayed Draco Malfoy, one of Harry's nemeses. Their characters frequently fought in the movies, but their off-screen relationship was quite different.

Felton has mentioned on multiple occasions that Radcliffe was his inspiration in his own theater work. On Good Morning America, Felton said,

“I’ve taken a few tips from Potter. He was one of the early inspirations for me to come to Broadway.”

He explained that he saw Radcliffe’s first stage show years ago and followed his career in theater closely.

Daniel Radcliffe was surprised and moved by Felton’s comments. In a separate interview, he said,

“It’s crazy that he would think of me as an inspiration for anything. That’s so sweet.”

Daniel Radcliffe further explained that Felton was the cool kid when they were young and this made the comment even more significant to him.

Felton is currently opening his Broadway performance in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. He plays the role of an older Draco Malfoy, reprising the character that he originally played as a child. Radcliffe has not been able to watch the show yet but reported that he cannot wait to see Felton on the stage.

Felton's reprisal as Draco has attracted huge crowds. Cursed Child has been doing well and the production has gained high revenues in the past few days during Thanksgiving week. Felton even reproduces the famous line, “Scared, Potter?”

Daniel Radcliffe, as well, is still doing his stage work. In 2026, he will take back to Broadway in Every Brilliant Thing, a solo play where he makes a list of things that make life worth living. Radcliffe told Good Morning America that the show is a very funny play with a short story about depression and that its style of telling is something he had not planned to do before.
