In a recent article by TMZ Sports published on June 12, Ben Askren's wife Amy Askren denied all the rumors of his demise and briefed that he is still fighting for his wife.
Earlier this week, rumors of Ben's demise started circulating on social media. To this, Amy came forward and decided to clear them.
Amy told TMZ sports:
"He is alive and any rumor he has died is completely false.”
Amy Askren revealed the news of Ben Askren's health on her social media account on June 7.
"You may have heard that my husband Ben is going through something. He developed severe pneumonia which came on very suddenly. He’s currently in the hospital and unable to respond to anything at this time. We welcome all prayers for healing and for peace. We are trying to keep life as normal as possible for our children currently and doing our best to support them thoughtfully so please refrain from discussing it with them for now.” Amy wrote in her facebook post.
She also posted an update on June 9 on her social media asking for all friends and family to 'keep praying for Ben'.
"Feeling so incredibly thankful for our friends and community — it’s times like this that remind you how truly blessed you are. I feel God moving through the love and support we have received. I’m sorry if I haven’t had the chance to respond to you, but know I’ve seen your messages, and each one has meant so much to me.” Amy wrote on facebook.
Last weekend, Ben Askren was rushed to the hospital after a sudden illness that left him unresponsive. Diagnostics revealed that the UFC star was down with a severe case of pneumonia which was bought on by a staph infection.
A good friend of Ben Askren- Daniel Cormier shared the news of Askren being moved to a different hospital.
“Ben Askren, our good friend from ‘Funky and the Champ’, is having a hard time." Cormier said.
Ben and Amy Askren tied the knot on April 9, 2010 and share three children named Alex, Andi and Ozi.
Members of the wrestling federation and MMA worlds came forward to give their condolenses to Ben Askren.
"It's taken a minute to say anything because in my head you’re already healed and back home with Amy and the kids playing disc golf in the backyard or trying to cut down a tree with a chainsaw in your flip flops,” UFC fighter Maycee Barber wrote in his Instagram post.

Born on July 18,1984 in Iowa, USA, is a professional boxer and wrestler who is majorly known for MMA Uncensored Live, WI MMA Today and Triller Fight Club: Paul vs Askren.
A blackbelt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Ben Askren had a celebrated wrestling career at the University of Missouri. He won two NCAA Division 1 National Championships. Later, he represented Team USA at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Askren was out in the quarterfinals.
After his run at the Olympics, Askren transitioned into a career in mixed martial arts.
After being successful in ONE Championship and Bellator, Askren signed up with UFC in November 2018. Before declaring his retirement from mixed martial arts in November 2019, Askren only participated in three UFC bouts, with a 1-2 record.
Ben fought social media star Jake Paul in a boxing battle in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2021. Askren lost the first round via TKO.
