Rapper Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., aka DDG, seems to have landed in hot water. This goes back to last month at DreamCon 2025, where a person reportedly named Lil Jay called Darryl “Doo Doo Garbage.”
As seen in the footage circulating on social media, the rapper’s brother, DuB, hit Lil Jay, and he fell to the ground. Meanwhile, on June 1, 2025, the X account @Quadripolar_B wrote that calling Darryl by that name was simple and funny at the same time. He responded, writing,
“Last ni**a that said that lost some mario coins.”
Social media users also posted their comments about the whole incident. One Instagram user (@whitneyskyye_) wrote,
“He lost Mario coins and you gonna lose custody.”

While social media users attempted to clarify the reference DDG made in his statement, others found the situation childish.
“I mean is it true why did that kindergarten sentence trigger him if you know you not,” a social media user (@suede_shardae) commented.
“Picking and choosing who to be tough with is crazy,” an online commentator (@kingspinks_) noted.
“Hate to be that guy… but Mario didn’t lose his coins, he died with his. Sonic was the one that got the coins knocked out of him,” a netizen (@watchj) shared.

Netizens wrote that DDG’s brother didn’t fight Lil Jay.
“Son should’ve knew how to fight if you wanna call somebody names,” an internet user (@chopsthatnigga) opined.
“Yall realize he didn’t actually put hands on the guy right?? It was dub Yall keep bring up Halle,” a platform user (@ursisfatima) noted.
“Too grown to be letting childish words get you out yo skin,” another netizen (xclusive.renee) wrote.

DDG also faced a similar situation at Streamer University
After the altercation, Lil Jay claimed that he was no longer welcome at the event. This wasn’t the first time DDG faced this verbal hurl. According to Complex, someone at Kai Cenat’s Streamer University, where the rapper was a Professor, used the phrase against him.
Lil Jay also posted a video on TikTok saying that he did not expect such a reaction following the joke. He mentioned,
“I gotta take legal action against him, his brother, somebody out here. That’s unacceptable for real. They done broke my chain. I'm banned from the event, glasses gone. I thought it was all jokes.”
Lil Jay recalled that when they saw DDG walking past, he didn’t think much of it at first. He had heard the nickname "Doo Doo Garbage" before, which he thought would be funny to say as a joke.
DDG’s group, including his brother DuB, turned back, and DuB confronted him about what he said. When Lil Jay repeated it, DuB pushed him hard. Meanwhile, DuB also responded to Lil Jay’s statement, claiming,
“You cannot sue nobody for trying to fight me… it didn’t go the way that your brain thought it was gonna go.”
DDG explained during a conversation in a car that no one had ever said the nickname “Doo Doo Garbage” to his face. He said if a fan ever tried to do that, he would react strongly and make sure they regretted it. According to him, people knew not to cross that line.
