Hugh Jackman's best friend, Australian radio presenter Gus Worland, during an appeareance on 2GB's Ben Fordham Live on May 29, reflected on Jackman's well-being after Deborra-Lee Furness filed for divorce this week in New York.

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee had been together for almost 27 years before announcing their split in September 2023. Almost two years after the announcement, Furness filed the divorce in New York on May 23.

Hugh Jackman's friend, Gus, who went to primary school with him, said that Jackman was doing "fine" post the split, and moving on with his life. According to The Independent, Gus said:

"No one wants anyone to go through what he is and he is going through it publicly because of his fame. One thing I have been really strict on is to let Hugh and Deborra-Lee do what they have had to do. I was over in New York with him last month and he is fine. He is going along well."

He went on to add,

"He is moving on with his life. I hope Deb does as well. They were together for 30 years and have two beautiful kids together. I go to their kids and ask them what we can do to make sure they get through this as best as possible."

The couple shares two kids, son, Oscar and daughter, Eva.

Deborra-Lee Furness talks about "betrayal" after filing for divorce from Hugh Jackman

Two years after announcing their split, Deborra-Lee Furness filed for divorce in New York on May 23. Speaking to Daily Mail around the same time, the Australian actress, in a lengthy statement, mentioned "betrayal." She said,

"My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal."

As Deborra filed for divorce, insiders close to the couple said earlier that their divorce had a potential to get "messy" since the couple was finding it difficult to split their $250 million fortune. The two never drew up a prenup.

The source also mentioned that the two thought their marriage would last "forever" and did not consider drawing a prenuptial agreement. The two also did not expect Jackman's career to skyrocket, and both Hugh and Deborra want to "make this as easy as possible."

As per Cosmpolitan, together the couple have enmassed a fortune of over $250 million. The outlet added,

Furness "feels entitled to more money than Hugh is willing to offer."
