The Bring It On star, Gabrielle Union, breaks major news regarding her husband Dwyane Wade's health. The former NBA player was diagnosed with kidney cancer and had to undergo surgery on December 18, 2023. As traumatic as the news was for Wade as well as for his family, the basketball player is out of danger.
Gabrielle Union was one of the panel members on the February 27 episode of The View, where she opened up about the time when Wade was diagnosed with cancer. She talked about how shocked she was to hear the news and that she immediately thought of the worst-case scenarios. She also mentioned that it took her and her family quite some time to wrap their heads around the fact that Wade had cancer.
However, on the above-mentioned episode of The View, Gabrielle Union confirmed that her husband, Dwyane Wade, is better now and doing well.
Union further added:
"Yes, he's had the surgery and he's cancer-free, but it was a challenge."
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Gabrielle Union talked about her husband's health and mentioned how he handled the whole situation and made the right decision to wait for a year before announcing his diagnosis and cancer surgery. She said it helped her family as they got some time to make peace with the fact.
The 52-year-old American actress, Union, shares a six-year-old daughter, Kaavia James, with Dwyane Wade. She started dating the retired basketball player in 2008 and eventually married him in 2014 in Miami.
Union was previously married to former NFL player Chris Howard. They were together from 2001 to 2006. Besides the teen comedy film Bring It On, Gabrielle Union has also been in other popular movies like She's All That (1999), 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), Bad Boys II (2003), Cradle 2 the Grave (2003), and more.

On that particular episode, he also shared that 40% of his right kidney was removed to completely get rid of the cancer.
Besides sharing a kid with Gabrielle Union, Dwyane also has two other children, Zaire and Zaya, from his previous wife Siohvaughn Funches. He has another son, Xavier, whom he shares with Aja Metoyer. He also happens to be the legal guardian of Dahvion Morris, his nephew.
