Heads of State enters the most-watched Prime Video movies list with 75 million viewers

Heads of State was released on Amazon Prime Video on July 2, 2025, by Amazon MGM Studios. The action comedy film was helmed by Ilya Naishuller and starred John Cena and Idris Elba as the US President and UK Prime Minister, respectively. Here's the official synopsis as described by Letterboxd,

The UK Prime Minister and US President have a public rivalry that risks their countries’ alliance. But when they become targets of a powerful enemy, they’re forced to rely on each other as they go on a wild, multinational run. Heads of State garners 75 million views on Prime Video

Heads of State, which was released last month, has managed to become one of the most-watched films on Amazon Prime Video. Around 75 million viewers tuned in to the streamer to watch the action comedy flick.

It is the fourth most-watched film by Amazon MGM studios on the platform. The film is behind Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans' starrer Red One, which remains the most viewed film on Prime Video, gaining 50 million views on the first four days of its release. The second and third in this list are The Accountant 2 and The Tomorrow War, with the former having 80 million global views in its first month.

The screenplay of Heads of State is written by Harrison Query (who also wrote the story), Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. It's produced by Peter Safran and John Rickard under their banners The Safran Company, Metro-Goldwyn Mayer, Potboiler and Big Indie Pictures. Cena, Elba, Nemec, Appelbaum and Marcus Viscidi are the executive producers.
