More details about The Twilight Saga
The Twilight Saga was a glitter-soaked fever dream that hijacked pop culture for nearly half a decade. Stephenie Meyer’s novels provided us with the blueprint, but Hollywood turned Forks, Washington, into the moody capital of the world, raking in over $3.36 billion while birthing one of the most chaotic fandoms ever. It all started in 2008 with Twilight, when Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan locked eyes with Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen, a vampire who sparkled under the sun and brooded like it was an Olympic sport. Their romance was dangerous, dramatic, and somehow made its way to all of our moodboards.
Then came New Moon in 2009, as the couple split ways, and we met our new favorite Twilight lead: Taylor Lautner's Jacob Black. Suddenly, the movies revolved around the love triangle between a human, a werewolf, and a vampire, and yes, it did make things all the more exciting. Fan wars between Team Edward and Team Jacob took place, as we saw Bella herself make the big choice. Eclipse dropped in 2010, giving us a glimpse of the vampire wars, and the two choices and two lives that lay before Bella.
Then, Breaking Dawn arrived in two parts, the first one in 2011, offering wedding bells, an awkward honeymoon montage, and the most stressful pregnancy in YA history. The second one in 2012 turned Bella into a power-up vampire mom and presented us with that iconic fake battle sequence, where audiences assumed half the cast had passed away before the rug was gloriously pulled, settling into a happily ever after eternity.
However, behind the glittery chaos, The Twilight Saga's road to the screen was rocky. Paramount initially developed a drastically different script in 2004, before Summit Entertainment swooped in and unleashed the phenomenon. As for the franchise's future, with a TV reboot in development and the chatter still buzzing, we might just get a reunion or a rewind, depending on which route the studio now takes.
The Twilight Saga will be available to stream on YouTube from September 7 through September 14, 2025.
