Stranger Things has truly reached the status of being a global pop culture phenomenon. The supernatural series, which debuted in July 2016, is coming to an end with the final episodes of the fifth and final season arriving in December.

In the latest news about the television hit, its creators (the Duffer brothers) made a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote their final run of episodes. At the end of their interview, Jimmy Fallon placed Funko Pop! figures of every character from the series on his desk and asked the duo to provide the audience with hints about the final chapters through their placement of the toys. After some thought, the Duffer brothers heeded Jimmy’s request and painted an interesting visual for fans of the show.

Once the interview was made available online, several people took to social media to comment on their arrangement of the figures. One X user said,

“Funko spoilers hit harder than the actual plot twists”

Another user added,

"The Duffer Brothers continue to demonstrate their creativity by incorporating Funko POP! figures to tease the conclusion of 'Stranger Things.' This playful approach not only engages fans but also highlights the show's strong connection with pop culture. It will be interesting to see how they wrap up such a beloved series."

Some users interpreted the arrangement of toys as a message that a crowd-favourite character was sure to perish,

" steve is toast-"

While other users were just left confused by the display,

“ wtf does that even mean?”

Finally, one X user spoke to the tone of the entire situation that unfolded in front of a live audience,

"teasing the ending with toys feels playful but heavy, like they already know how it hurts, don’t pretend you disagree"

Stranger Things Season 5 Vol 2 trailer reveals

The trailer for the next 3 episodes of Stranger Things dropped on December 16, generating massive buzz and building suspense for the series’ finale in the process. As the cast continues their battle with the “Upside Down” (an alternate dimension as we currently understand it), several potential face-offs and possible deaths were teased in the clip.

One segment that has social media abuzz is what appears to be a sort of “death pact” between two of the show’s most beloved characters, Steve and Dustin. During the trailer, they appear to be in the throes of battle and proclaim “You die, I die” to one another in a high-stakes sequence.

Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 will be released on Netflix on Christmas Day, December 25. The series finale premieres on New Year’s Eve, December 31.
