Hannah Einbinder punctuated her Emmy’s speech with a conclusion that got censored during the broadcast, making headlines and generating online buzz. Homeland Security issued a statement in response to the Hacks star's remarks.

Speaking with TMZ, Tricia McLaughlin (an assistant secretary from the Homeland Security Department) shared the following message in response to Einbinder’s words.

"How ugly — such demonization is inspiring violence against our ICE law enforcement who are facing a 1,000% increase in assaults against them.”

McLaughlin’s statement continued,

"As this woman fans the flames of hatred, our brave law enforcement will continue enforcing the rule of law and protecting Americans."

Hannah Einbinder has yet to respond to the statement issued by Homeland Security on September 15.

Hannah Einbinder’s Emmy Speech

Hannah Einbinder won the 2025 Emmy for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series’ for her role on Hacks. While the preamble of her acceptance speech was par for the course, she ended her time on stage with,

"I just want to say, finally, go Birds, f--- ICE, and free Palestine!"

While the "f--- ICE" moment was censored from the CBS broadcast, unedited footage online clearly captured the moment, and her statements caused an uproar on social media.

Once Hannah Einbinder had her moment on stage, she took her award backstage and addressed the press about what transpired after her win.

"I thought it was important to talk about Palestine because it's an issue that's very dear to my heart. I have friends in Gaza who are working as frontline workers, as doctors right now in the north of Gaza to provide care for pregnant women and for school children to create schools in the refugee camps."

She added,

"I feel it is my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel because our religion and our culture is such an important and long-standing, basically, institution that is really separate to this sort of ethnonationalist state."

Overall, it was a great night for Hannah Einbinder, who got the opportunity to share her win with co-star Gene Smart, who also won an Emmy for her work. This was Einbinder’s fourth Emmy nomination and first win.
