The social media of Paramount Pictures was seemingly hacked today.

In screenshots circulating on X, the film production juggernaut's bio read, for a brief amount of time:

"Proud arm of the fascist regime.”

Although nothing else was changed, its X bio has since been returned to its usual

"The official X account for Paramount Pictures."

Nonetheless, fans have begun poking fun at the incident on the Elon Musk-owned platform. Here's how one user reacted, for instance:

"Homelander is the new Admin"

The comments didn't end there:

"what if this was just a dare by warner bros? "want to buy me? change your bio to prove your determination"," one fan quipped.
"If this was really a hack, it might go down as one of the boldest, most politically charged breaches we’ve seen from a major studio account in years," someone else pointed out.
"are we sure they were hacked?" another questioned.
"Studios be like: “We protect billion-dollar IP with cutting-edge encryption.” Also studios: password123," a fourth user remarked.

See how the rest of X is reacting:

"Hacked an account just to write that ?" one user opined.
"Oh, Netflix is playing dirty!" another exclaimed.
"Paramount waking up tomorrow like: “WHO CHANGED THE BIO?!”," yet another chimed in.
"wild seeing a studio get glitched like that in real time," one user remarked.

Everything we know about Paramount Pictures's hacking:

As of this writing, the culprit behind the hack has yet to be named, and several outlets have reported that the account, which boasts nearly 3.5 million followers, was only hacked momentarily, as the bio was changed back to its original within minutes. Furthermore, Paramount Pictures has yet to issue a statement acknowledging the incident.

Variety has reported that Paramount Pictures' X account getting hijacked comes on the heels of Paramount Skydance launching a "direct-to-shareholders hostile takeover effort" for Warner Bros. Discovery.

Run by David Ellison, the effort came days after Netflix announced its acquisition of WBD and its divisions, including HBO, HBO Max, and its games. As for Paramount and Skydance Media, the two companies merged back in August.

The Tribune has reported that the efforts come amid heightened scrutiny towards the Ellisons in both the media and political spheres. David Ellison and his father, Larry, who is also the co-founder of Oracle, were previously praised by President Donald Trump. In October, the latter said that Ellison “will do a great job” in helming the newly-merged company.
