Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone mended their feud by collaborating on The Planet Hollywood Restaurant venture.
During a recent appearance on Andy Cohen and SiriusXM's Radio Andy, Schwarzenegger opened up about his past feud with Sylvester Stallone. While recalling their decades long feud, Arnold said,
"We hated each other. We were kind of attacking each other and doing nasty things and saying nasty things about each other and all these stupid things."
The two were rivals, as they emerged as action movie stars in the 1980s. They eventually reconciled and became friends, and went on to star in 2013's Escape Plan, and other films. Both stars have since extensively talked about their feud.
When talking about the reconciliation, Arnold Schwarzenegger said,
"All of a sudden, I started working with Robert Earl and Keith Parish to create the Planet Hollywood franchise, those restaurants. The next thing I know is I get a phone call from my lawyer, who was also Sly's lawyer, he said, 'Arnold, is there any kind of room for Sly in Planet Hollywood?"
He recalled that he considered it a good idea and said,
"That's actually a good idea, because it could bring us together. And I wanted that. At that point I had grown out of my craziness."
Arnold Schwarzenegger says Sylvester Stallone helped his career
His recent appearance on Andy Cohen's show is not the first time Arnold Schwarzenegger has acknowledged past feud with Sylvester Stallone. Earlier in April, 2024, the two sat down in a joint interview for TMZ Presents Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends, Icons.
While recalling their feud, Arnold said,
"There's no two ways about that: He was very helpful in my career because I had something that I could chase."
Stallone agreed and said that when Schwarzenegger entered the action genre he found something to "motivate" himself. Stallone earlier looked at competition as a threat, and called their meeting "two alphas hitting."
"As soon as I saw him it was like bang, two alphas hitting. If we walked into a party we'd be staring at each other for a few seconds and then 'I gotta get that guy. He didn't do anything wrong but he will."
Arnold admitted that he started the feud by "opening up my mouth, saying stupid things and being competitive."
Arnold Schwarzenegger opened The Planet Hollywood Restaurant chain in New York City in 1991, with Stallone and several other A-listers, including Bruce Willis, Whoopi Goldberg, and Chuck Norris joining in on the venture.
