Twitch streamer Jason "Jasontheween" and singer D4vd, also known as David Anthony Burke, have made music together. Jasontheween, in a YouTube video posted on September 19, claimed that the two are not "close friends" amidst the ongoing police probe into D4vd's impounded Tesla incident.
"One thing I also wanna add to the David situation. I did not know anything. I am not even close friends with David. I made a song with him alright, I had dinner with him one time in a group setting and the mother****rs saying, I'm best friends with him. No bro."
On September 8, the Los Angeles Police Department found human remains in a Tesla, which was registered under D4vd's name. The Tesla had been taken to a Hollywood tow yard and was abandoned for days. According to the BBC, police responded to reports of a foul odor emanating from the yard.
The deceased body was identified as missing California teenager Celeste Rivas Hernandez on September 17. Rivas was reportedly wearing a tube top, black leggings, a chain bracelet, and metal stud earrings. She also had a tattoo on her right index finger, which said, "Shhh," similar to a tattoo Burke has.
While speaking to NBC News on September 17, the LAPD, in a statement, said:
"At this time, the LAPD does not have a crime classification from the coroner as to the mode or manner of death. Thus, we do not have any suspect information at this time."
"First off, I want to retract my statement," says Jasontheween about D4vd
After news outlets reported further links between D4vd and Celeste Rivas's death, Jason addressed the situation on YouTube on September 19 to clarify his stance. Jason took to address the situation and said:
"First off I want to retract my statement. Obviously the other day, I was defending David. Umm, before all the new evidence came out, I do not condone anything that David has done or is doing."
Jasontheween was linked with Burke in September 2024, when Burke appeared on Jason's Twitch channel.
In the stream, Burke opened up about how his career took off from streaming tracks for his Fortnite montages. In April 2025, Burke released What Are You Waiting For, which features cameos from Jason and fellow streamer Pokimane.
As per NBC News, a spokesperson for the singer said that he:
"Has been informed about what's happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities."
Crocs and Hollister dropped the singer from their brand campaigns. The two brands collaborated on a collection and released a campaign featuring the singer on September 3. However, on September 9, the brands shared a statement with Footwear News, where they noted that they have "removed campaign content" featuring the singer while the "investigation continues."
