During a recent episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Dinner's On Me podcast, the actor revealed that he once got a nasal yeast infection from snorting powdered milk for cocaine during a play. Ferguson recalled the incident, saying:

"I remember we 'did cocaine' on stage, and we actually snorted powdered milk. And I was like, I don't know if that was necessary. I don't think like anyone was close enough to actually see the powder go up our nose."

Modern Family star then added that they snorted powdered milk while starring in Christopher Shinn's Where Do We Live:

"But I remember giving myself, like, basically a yeast infection in my nose because I was snorting so much powdered milk."

Before appearing as Mitchell Pritchett in Modern Family, Jesse began his acting career on Broadway. He made his Broadway debut with On the Town in 1998, and also appeared in numerous Shakespeare productions, including A Midsummer Night's Dream (2007), A Winter's Tale (2010), The Merchant of Venice (2010), and The Tempest (2015).

More of Jesse Tyler Ferguson's embarrassing moments

Snorting powdered milk for cocaine and getting a nasal yeast infection is not Jesse Tyler Ferguson's only "oops" incident. During another previous episode of Dinner's On Me Podcast in February, 2025, the actor revealed that he almost pooped his pants, during a Broadway musical performance of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee which he costarred in 2009.

While talking about his most embarrassing on-stage moment, Jesse Tyler Ferguson said:

"I don't know if I've told this story, but I was just thinking about this as we were ordering. When we were doing Spelling Bee, on a matinee day, because I'm thinking about like eating before a show."

He then went on to add:

"The Palm across the street did, this big lobster dinner, and they invited us to come over, so we had this incredible lobster dinner between shows."

However, despite the seafood dinner being yummy, the star revealed that having lobster dinner "on a two-day show day between shows" was a bad day, and the entire cast was just "sh***ing." He also revealed that Michael Urie and he had the "worst gas."

Ferguson revealed that Sarah Saltzberg, who was known for making costars laugh hard on stage was trying to make him laugh, and he "basically" farted on stage. Jesse Tyler Ferguson mentioned he was very close to the audience when the incident happened, and an audience member said, "Ew," prompting Sarah to laugh.
