On October 13, the actor released a ballad that he had recorded with his late wife, Kelly Preston. John Trovolta also posted a special post on Instagram honoring Preston on her 62nd birthday. The caption for the Instagram reel read:

"I recorded this song for Kelly and I want to share it with you all on her birthday. Happy birthday Kelly, we love you. -John, Ella and Ben."

After battling breast cancer for two years, the actress and former model, who starred in more than 60 movies and TV series, passed away on July 12, 2020, at the age of 57.

Confirming the demise of his wife in 2020, John Trovolta said:

"It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. Kelly's love and life will always be remembered.”

Before her passing, Preston and Travolta were married for almost 30 years, having originally been connected in 1987. The couple shared three children during the course of their marriage. Jett, the couple's oldest son, passed away in January 2009 at the age of sixteen while on holiday in the Bahamas with his family.
