Katherine LaNasa and Grant Show advise on keeping things simple and staying committed

When asked about the secret to their long marriage, Katherine LaNasa gave a short and direct answer.
“Our key to staying married? … Not getting divorced,” she joked. Show immediately agreed and added, “Not breaking up.”
The exchange was light, but it reflected a shared mindset.
Their comments suggest that staying together is a daily choice. Instead of focusing on perfection, they focus on staying present and committed. This approach removes pressure and keeps expectations realistic. It also allows room for growth over time.
The couple first met in 2006 while working on the HBO series Big Love. They started out as friends and spent time bowling and hanging out. Show later shared that it took him eight months to ask Katherine LaNasa out. This slow start helped build trust before romance entered the picture.

Friendship, time, and shared effort

Grant Show has often described their relationship as a friendship first. In a 2013 interview with PEOPLE, he said they were “like best friends.” He explained that they spend as much time together as possible, even when their interests differ.
He shared, “We just do things together all of the time.”
Show added that Katherine LaNasa joins him for activities she may not choose on her own, like golf. In return, he goes shopping with her.
He explained, “You just have to make sure to keep doing it.”
This balance helps both partners feel supported.
Time together has also been a priority, even when work takes them to different places. Show told PEOPLE that they set a clear rule.
“We’ve made sure that we get together in the same city and in the same bed at least once every 10 days,” he said. He added, “So I’ll fly to see her, she’ll fly to see me.”
This effort helps them stay connected.
