Rapper Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO have been married for nine years since they tied the knot in 2016. However, during his appearance on the Human School Podcast with Miles Adcox, he opened up about cheating on his wife. He said:

“I don't talk about this publicly at all, but one of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife because it was the first time that I was like, I really can't get this right at all. Like, I know I'm in love with this woman. You know what I mean? Like, it was just such a like it just really, really, really blew me back.”

Jelly Roll went on to say:

“And I did a lot of work to repair that relationship. You know what I mean? Like the repair has been special, man. We're stronger than we could have ever been. And I wish our story would have went in the way that it never had an affair. But and I'm in no way glad it happened, but man, I'm proud of who we are today.”

Jelly Roll said that when he thought about the time he cheated on his wife, he realized he had been spending time with people who also cheated on their partners. He shared that when he used drugs or drank too much, he was always surrounded by others who did the same things.

Jelly Roll on friendships, change, and being present in relationships

The rapper said he looked forward to long-standing friendships. Speaking about what kind of friendships he craved, Jelly Roll said:

“I wanted to be friends with people I wanted to be like. I want to be like you Miles. Like I think you're a great father. You're the father I want to be. I'm not that father yet. I want to be that father and I think you see the potential in me to be that father but I'm not as present. I try to be but I travel. I'm in a whirlwind circus.”

Jelly Roll said that despite his travel commitments, he should make time for his son. He said at the time, he was with people who never took time out for their kids. According to him, those individuals only lived up to the title of being a father but never fulfilled their fatherly duties. He told Miles Adcox:

“What I admire about our relationship more than anything is that it's like even with mentoring is like I want to only be around people I want to be like, you know, like guys that I have fruitful like these kind of conversations.”

Jelly Roll said he wanted men to think about the kind of people they spent time with and the things they talked about. He explained that men should notice if their conversations were about good things, such as doing something nice for their family, or bad things, like gossiping.

He said that when he started spending time with better people, he also became a better person, his relationship improved, and he became more caring and involved at home.
