Paddy McGuinness is criticizing the security team of BBC Radio 2 live on air for stopping him from entering the building.

The comedian and former Top Gear host, 51, has been working with the network since June 2024, when he started his weekly Sunday show. The Lancashire comic's show airs from 11 am to 1 pm, and this week, he opened with a tirade about the security at the Salford radio studios.

Noting that he was asked to see a pass at the entrance, which left him stumped, Paddy McGuinness vented,

'I said "Pass? Have you seen that yellow chopper there son, with 10 million quid stuck on top it? I did that!"' He added, 'Before we get into it, how long have we been doing this show? For a year? Yeah it's been about a year hasn't it. It's been over a year actually. I'm just wondering when security are going to know it's me. I'm not even bothered about them recognising me off the telly or anything I've done in my career - just the fact that I come in every Sunday for a year and the bloke still wouldn't let me in this morning [laughs],' Paddy McGuinness quipped.

Paddy McGuinness' career, friendships, and bond with his ex-wife explored:

As reported by QRadio, last year, before it was announced that Paddy McGuinness would be hosting his own show on BBC Radio 2, a source told The Sun:

“[Paddy McGuinness] is a natural fit for Helen’s vision of Radio 2, and is an effortless broadcaster. He’s proven a hit with listeners since filling in for Rylan, and was brought in for talks about the future. Like fellow Bolton-born host Vernon Kay, Paddy’s Northern tones — and cheesy dad jokes — work well on air, and he has come up with some brilliant, innovative ideas for formats of his own.”

The Sun reported that Paddy McGuinness hosts his show live from MediaCityUK, driving up from Cheshire, where he lives with his ex-wife, Christine. They share three kids, and they split in July 2022 after 11 years together.

As reported by The Daily Mail, during a recent interview on Amy Hart's Mum's Club podcast, Christine cleared up her relationship with her former husband.

'I thought that going on Celebs Go Dating I would be fine. I'm ready to date. I'm completely ready to date,' she said. As for what co-parenting is like nowadays, she said: 'I've been separated from my ex husband for three years. We get on really well. We still live at home together, but of course, I want some adult company. I can't just sit and be with children all day, every day. I like that time out - being away from home when I'm working - but I haven't got that time out being away from home not working and just enjoying some adult company. I haven't had that, so I got the opportunity and thought, You know what? Why not? I understand myself, so I'll be fine. I'll manage it and it was just a step too far.'

She went on,

'I found it quite overwhelming, so I listened to myself and I'm really, really proud that I recognised how I felt... I went home to my children after two weeks. I was supposed to do 10 weeks of filming - and I'd done two weeks - and I'm really, really proud of myself that I did what was right for me.'

She added:

'If something doesn't feel right for you, physically, mentally, emotionally, it's okay to leave. That's something I tell my children quite a lot, because being autistic, you can stay and do what other people want you to do. I think it's really, really important to know that you can leave the party, you can leave the job, leave the event, you can leave the relationship at any time.'

At the same time, Paddy McGuinness also told The Sun that he had not spoken to his 'Top Gear' co-star Freddie Flintoff in over 10 months after his harrowing accident while shooting for the show.

“We were all there for him when it happened, and he got back to us all immediately after, but it’s gone quiet since then. Who knows what he must be going through. I still see his wife and we still chat, and we have the same barber, and it’s all lovely. I messaged Fred recently saying, ‘Look, I can’t begin to think what you’re going through but rather than me bombarding you with loads of messages, which can be annoying, if you can’t be (bothered) with that, I’m always here. I hope you’re well and please God, I’ll see you soon’. You just can’t begin to put yourself into his shoes. No one can know what’s going on in his head.”

As reported by Express UK, Paddy McGuinness has now revealed that he is eager to watch the former cricketer's documentary, Flintoff, which explores the December 2022 accident.

"I love Fred. He's a good lad," Paddy McGuinness reportedly said of his friend. "The mad thing about me getting on with him so well is that I know absolutely zero about cricket. I've never watched it, never been into it, and never played it. I knew of Freddie and Ian Botham and Michael Vaughan... the famous names. Me, Fred and Chris [Harris] everyday we worked together we just laughed. It was such a lovely experience. It was one of those jobs for me, as someone who wasn't well travelled to visit the placed we did in Top Gear and go off the beaten track."
