Canadian rapper Alexander Leon Gumuchian, also known as bbno$, shared an Instagram post on December 8, announcing that he has taken a step back from making music. Alexander wrote:

“As you guys know, i am for the people. and the people have asked me to stop making music. due to the millions of people begging me to stop, i have made the incredibly difficult decision to stop making music for the foreseeable future.”

He signed off the message, wishing everyone happy holidays. However, his message took netizens by surprise. For instance, one X user commented:

“How long until he reveals this is a joke, meaning it was all just for publicity like every other single thing he's done I'll give it about 2 days.”

Another X user compared it to an April Fool’s Day post. They shared:

“You can delete it, fren, April Fool's Day is a long way off.”

Others called it a joke. One of them mentioned:

“bbno$ is trolling. millions of people haven’t done that.”

Meanwhile, some X users seem convinced by what he said. One of the X users commented:

“No more bb steps? Hope he's doing alright. The photo makes him look pretty contemplative. What a run it's been!”

One online commentator speculated that bbno$ might release some new music soon. They wrote:

“my goat gonna drop something crazy im so ready.”

Sharing similar sentiments, another social media user noted:

“I feel like he's gonna drop something in January and be all "new year, new me, sike"”

Looking back at bbno$’s recent social media activity and his interview with Courtney Miller

His latest social media post comes days after he told his fans that if he got one million likes on one of his posts, he would quit music. bbno$ shared that the post exceeded his expectations, and he got two million likes. Startled, he asked:

“Is this the end of my career??”

Following that, he wrote that he would fulfil his promise. The post was captioned:

“yall won, goodbye.”

In another video, the rapper shared that one of his goals in 2026 is to make music with Stray Kids.

During an interview with Courtney Miller on Smosh Alike in March 2025, the rapper was asked about the assumption that he had taken Post Malone’s spot in the music world as the “most accessible celebrity.” bbno$ replied that it was an amazing theory because all he wanted to do was get old and play World of Warcraft with his children and spouse. He mentioned:

“I totally think Post Malone is a very very accessible person, and I feel that's actually a really nice compliment.”

He mentioned that the public thought of him as the “side quest guy.” Calling it a dope idea, bbno$ said he was initially a “lalala” person, and then he became a “side quest” guy. Alexander said that he liked the idea of how his online persona gets changed. Nevertheless, he mentioned that he had stopped reading comments, and he liked practising posting into the ether.
