Actress Ali Larter has decided to live away from the glitz and glam of Hollywood.

In 2022, Larter moved to Sun Valley, a resort town in Idaho. According to People Magazine, after moving to the town along with her husband and two children, the couple built their dream house.

In an exclusive interview with The Wall Street Journal published on November 18, Ali Larter reflected on her life in Idaho, saying:

“There’s some magic in the mountains. When I’m up there hiking for three hours, I feel a special calmness. I feel the most in my skin now than I’ve ever felt before.”

Speaking of the house, she said:

“The house we built on 2 acres has lots of windows and great views of the mountains.”

Ali and husband Hayes MacArthur got hitched in 2009 and a year later, they welcomed their son Theodore Hayes. Speaking to People Magazine in 2010, Ali Larter said that she did not disclose her pregnancy to the public. Since she wasn’t ready to share the news, the couple took some time off and left the country. In January 2025, she sat down with Kelly and Mark on their show, where she reflected on their private life in Idaho, saying:

“Our life is so different there and it’s a small town, and it kind of holds you to a different type of accountability. It’s something that me and Hayes really wanted to do for our children, so we moved.”

What did Ali Larter say about her daughter in the past?

Ali Larter gave birth to daughter Vivienne Margaret MacArthur in 2015. When Vivienne was born, the actress shared the news on her website, writing:

“We couldn’t be more excited to share news of the arrival of Vivienne Margaret MacArthur. She came bearing gifts for her brother: Batman sheets and lots of gummy bears!!! 7.5 lbs. of love.”

She said it amazed her to see how different it was to have a baby girl and a baby boy. Her daughter liked to sit quietly, look through books, and explore things gently, almost like a little angel. But her son always wanted attention and wanted people to watch and play with him. Ali Larter said he felt like a strong and energetic little force. Speaking about her life in Idaho, she once told the magazine:

“Neither of us had ever lived in a small town before. People look out for each other. There’s a real sense of community here and we’re so happy to be a part of it.”

Ali Larter was a recent guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live where Kimmel asked what the most New Jersey thing about her was. She said:

“I mean, probably like the banter with like cops and firemen, like the accent. My mom would be like, "Where's my daughter?" Drinking water, you know, talking on the phone.”

When Kimmel asked how she was settling in Idaho, Larter replied that she loved raising her children there. She said it was important to be accountable and that one needed to have perfect manners all the time.
