Pierce Brosnan made a return to the red carpet with his son Dylan, whom he shares with Keely Shaye Smith. The two made a rare public appearance at the Plaza Hotel in New York City for the premiere of Netflix's The Thursday Murder Club.

The former James Bond actor is known to be a family man. Pierce Brosnan is the father of five children, from two marriages. Though the children come from different parents, they all love each other.

The 72-year-old actor is best known for his role as James Bond and as Sam Carmichael in Mamma Mia! The actor donned a white blazer jacket and black pants. Dylan complemented him with a grey tailored suit, high-waisted pants, and a black striped tie.

With Dylan all grown up, he bears a resemblance to his father now. They were last seen together in the June 2025 Western The Unholy Trinity, alongside Brosnan's youngest son, Paris.

Pierce Brosnan's family at a glance

Pierce Brosnan shares three kids with Cassandra Harris: Christopher Ivan Brosnan, who is currently 52 and Charlotte Emily Brosnan, who passed away in 2013 from ovarian cancer, who were adopted from Cassandra's first marriage to Dermot Harris and Sean William Brosnan, who is 41 years old. William is the first son of Brosnan and Harris, the step-brother of Christopher and Charlotte.

Pierce Brosnan then married American journalist Keely Shaye Smith in 2001 after Harris died. Brosnan shares Dylan Thomas Brosnan, who is 28 years old and Paris Beckett Brosnan, who is 24 years old, with Shaye Smith.

Cassandra Harris died in 1991, the day after her eleventh wedding anniversary with Pierce Brosnan, due to ovarian cancer, the same condition that claimed her mother's and daughter's lives. Brosnan has spoken candidly about how these events influenced his commitment to parenthood.

Speaking to The Herald in 2015, he said:

"[Life] can be snatched away without any prior warning, so why waste it? That's why I enjoy my wonderful, beautiful family, my children and my grandchildren."

Pierce Brosnan's parenting approach was heavily impacted by his own childhood. He was raised by his maternal grandparents in Ireland as his dad left him when he was a baby, and his mother had to work to support them in London. He only met his father once, in 1984. He told Esquire in an interview in 2017:

"My fatherly instincts are purely my own. They relate back to no one, because there was no one."

He added:

“I had a Sunday afternoon with him. A story about this and that, had a few pints of Guinness, and we said goodbye. I would have loved to have known him. He was a good whistler, and he had a good walk. That’s as much as I know about him.”

Speaking to Reader's Digest in 2008, Pierce Brosnan said that he wants his children to "feel like they belong" and "know the love of family," as he added:

"I'm very aware of how precious the time with my children is."

The children of Pierce Brosnan

Starting with the oldest, Christopher Ivan Brosnan, was adopted by Pierce when he was a teenager, after his mother, Cassandra, remarried. Christopher now lives a private life far away from the industry. He had studied screenwriting at UCLA and directing at the New York Film Academy. Chris began his career in production, working on numerous films of his father's, including Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and The Thomas Crown Affair. In 2006, Chris went on Celebrity Love Island.

Charlotte Emily Brosnan was Brosnan's second adopted child from Cassandra's previous marriage. She was lovingly nicknamed "custodian of laughter." She studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and also worked as an actress. Charlotte soon got married to Alex Smith and had two kids, Isabella and Lucas. Only weeks after her wedding, Charlotte met the same fate as her mother and grandmother.

Pierce spoke at a fundraiser, Stand Up To Cancer, in 2014 and said:

"To watch someone you love have his or her life eaten away bit by bit by this insidious disease, that part of your sorrow becomes an indelible part of your psyche. I held the generous, strong, beautiful hand of my first wife Cassie as ovarian cancer took her life much too soon. Just last year, I held the hand of my funny, wonderful daughter Charlotte before she, too, died from this wretched inherited disease."

His third child, Sean William Brosnan, whom he shares with Cassandra, began his career as an actor, but after his own struggles with sobriety in his early days, he turned to the mental health field, where he specialized in addiction treatment. He is married to actress Sanja Banic, with whom he has two daughters.

Pierce's first son from his second marriage, Dylan Thomas Brosnan, is a graduate of USC's School of Cinematic Arts, and works as a model and filmmaker. He has worked on projects such as Western Stars with Bruce Springsteen and the documentary Willie Nelson & Family. In 2020, he and Paris served as Golden Globes Ambassadors.

The second from his second marriage and youngest son, Paris Beckett-Bronson is a model, painter, and environmental activist who has walked for luxury brands including Dolce & Gabbana and Balmain. He is also a filmmaker who creates works that address social and environmental concerns, such as a documentary about childhood hunger in Sri Lanka.
