Robert De Niro has seven kids, Drena De Niro, Raphael De Niro, Airyn De Niro, Julian Henro De Niro, Elliot De Niro, Helen Grace De Niro, and Gia Viriginia Chen-De Niro.

His daughter, Airyn, in a recent interview with Them published on April 29, came out as a trans woman, and opened up about her journey. The actress revealed that she was inspired by Halle Bailey's The Little Mermaid, and it was after watching this film that she decided to get braids.

"I think a big part of (my transition) is also the influence Black women have had on me. I think stepping into this new identity, while also being more proud of my blackness, makes me feel closer to them in some way.

Airyn changed her name from "Aaron" after coming out. Airyn also opened up about undergoing horomone therapy/transition in November, 2024,

"Trans women being honest and open, especially (in) public spaces like social media and getting to see them in their success...I'm like, you know what? Maybe it's not too late for me. Maybe I can start."

She also mentioned that she wanted to address her gender identity since she wanted to be "seen" and not just visible. The actress came out as a gay man in high school, but was not accepted by the gay community since she didn't fit the gay beauty standards.

Robert De Niro adopted his first child, Drena De Niro in 1976 from a previous relationship, after he tied the knot with Diahnne Abbott. De Niro welcomed his second child with Abbott, Raphael, in November 1976. Robert then welcomed twins Airyn and Julian in 1995.

Julian made his film debut in In Dubious Battle in 2016 alongside James Franco and Selena Gomez. In 1998, Robert De Niro welcomed another son, Elliot, with his new wife, Grace Hightower. Elliot was diagnosed with autism in 2016, and is known for his accomplishments as a tennis player in the Special Olympics.

His second child with Hightower, Helen, was born via surrogacy in December 2011, before the couple called it quits in 2018.

In May, 2023, Robert announced the birth of his seventh child, Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro when he corrected an ET Canada reporter who said he had six kids. Robert De Niro announced that he "just had a baby" but did not reveal the name of the mother at the time. However, as per rumors, he has been linked to martial arts instructor Tiffany Chen since 2021.
