Following his loss in a defamation lawsuit that will now see him shell out a 6-figure payout, rapper Blueface may also be looking at losing his music royalties.
Hot New Hip Hop has reported that Jackilyn Martinez sued the California rapper in December 2023. However, when he failed to respond, the court ruled in the latter's favor, awarding her about $125,000. The figure has since soared to nearly $130,000.
Martinez's defamation lawsuit is backed by several prolific organizations, including BMI and the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). Just this week, she petitioned the court to assign Blueface's music royalties to her directly, and a hearing has been set for December 9.
Celebrity Net Worth has reported that the rapper, who is most known for the music video of his song "Respect My Crypn," has a net worth of $4 million. His most successful song is "Thotiana" feat. Cardi B and YG, and it currently sits in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100.
Blueface's legal drama explored as his mother says he may be getting out of prison soon:
Hot New Hip Hop has reported that in her initial filing, Martinez slammed Blueface, legally known as Johnathan Jamall Porter, for challenging the paternity of her two-year-old son, who reportedly belongs to Soulja Boy. She demanded a hefty $10 million from him, and penned in her filing:
"As a result of [Blueface's] wrongful conduct and the defamatory statements, I have and continue to suffer severe emotional and mental distress, including depression, anxiety, panic attacks (and) crying spells."
She also mentioned in her filing that she hadn't been intimate with the rapper since 2018, and also alleged that he slammed her on social media. Vibe has reported that this took place in December 2023, when Bluefact got into a public spat with Soulja Boy, and Hernandez became collateral damage. At the time, both rappers threatened each other with physical violence.
As of this writing, the rapper's parole eligibility has been pushed to November 2025. However, his mother, Karlissa Saffold, expressed hope to TMZ that he may come out sooner than expected:
“He’s doing well, he’s doing his push-ups and sit-ups and preparing to come home. I get to talk to him a couple of times a week; he talks to the kids. He’s excited about coming home and getting to work and being a dad and picking up where he left off.”
