Rachel Bilson gave her followers a rare glimpse into her personal life on June 27, sharing moments from a night out with her daughter, Briar Rose, at Olivia Rodrigo’s Hyde Park concert in London.

Briar Rose, now 10 years old, is Bilson’s daughter with actor Hayden Christensen. The pair became parents on October 29, 2014, six years after first meeting on the set of the 2008 sci-fi film Jumper. Though Bilson and Christensen ended their relationship in 2017, they’ve continued to co-parent their daughter privately.

Rachel Bilson posted a photo of Briar watching the stage, her face turned away from the camera, and a purple bow in her hair. She captioned it, “We love you @oliviarodrigo.”

Olivia Rodrigo later reposted the moment on her own Instagram Story, adding a purple heart emoji in response.

Rachel Bilson opened up about how she and Hayden Christensen have successfully co-parented their daughter, Briar, since their 2017 split. In a People interview, Bilson emphasized the importance of unity and communication when raising a child post-separation.

“Communication is key and just being on the same page, so everything's about the kid, as long as you put the kid first, everything will be okay,” she said.

Their teamwork proved especially helpful when Briar developed eczema. According to Bilson, eliminating dairy from her daughter’s diet made a significant difference.

She also credited Planet Oat products for helping with the dietary change.

“We had to take my daughter off dairy for like five or six months and it cleared up, [Hayden and I] were both totally on board, when we went off dairy, we both were fully supportive of each other and her, so it worked pretty seamlessly.” she shared.

Rachel Bilson explained that she experimented with several dairy-free alternatives and found Planet Oat’s oat milk particularly effective.

“My daughter couldn’t tell the difference when using Planet Oat’s oat milk to make things like pancakes and fudgsicles,” she said.

Oat milk has since become a regular fixture in their kitchen.

“We really substitute oat milk in a lot of things that we cook, my daughter loves overnight oats, so we do that all the time. We have it ready to go on busy mornings for school; it makes it super, super easy, and we also have fun with it.” she explained.

She also spoke about how much her daughter enjoys cooking together.

“I think it was more important than anything else to just have fun and do those things together, I'm going to make her do all the cooking. I'm like, ‘Briar, I need my coffee!’” she explained.

Rachel Bilson reveals past miscarriages

Rachel Bilson spoke candidly in October 2023 about experiencing miscarriages in the past. On an episode of her Broad Ideas podcast, the actress revealed,

“I’ve had miscarriages. So I’ve had losses.”

Bilson also reflected on her mindset going into childbirth, explaining that she preferred to deliver in a hospital.

“With birth, I even remember going into [it saying], ‘I’m open to whatever,’” she explained, adding, “I always knew I was going to go to a hospital” and that home birth wasn’t something she pursued.

In a separate podcast episode released in December 2023, Bilson shared a moment of levity about her then 9 year old daughter’s strong opinions on expanding their family.

“She’s so adamant. She’s like, ‘You’re not allowed to have a baby, she’s like, ‘No, you’re not having a baby, Mom.’ Well, it’s just been us. She’s almost 9, you know, so she’s very accustomed to our little situation.” she shared
