Michele and Rob Reiner's kids, Jake and Romy Reiner, are leaning on each other for support following their parents' horrific deaths.

Jake, 34, and Romy, 28, are still accepting their parents' deaths, a source told People Magazine this week. The Hollywood director and his wife, a photographer, 78 and 70 years old, respectively, were found with their throats slashed at their Los Angeles home. Their son, Nick, 32, has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in relation to the same.

“This nightmare isn't even over for Romy and Jake. There is a lot more to be done, but they’ve been surrounded by loved ones and support in all forms, and that will continue,” the insider said. "Romy and Jake have been close since they were young. That strong bond has really helped them in the last two weeks."

The insider further told People Magazine that Jake and Romy Reiner have been trying to keep themselves busy following the devastating loss of Michele and Rob Reiner:

“Romy and Jake are going out for walks or errands, trying to embrace any opportunities for moments of normalcy when it feels right, but this is all still so new and overwhelming. It's surreal. They’re still processing and their grief journey has really just begun."

Nick Reiner is reportedly being detained at Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. Reports suggested that he was being treated for schizophrenia ahead of Michele and Rob Reiner's killings. In a statement following the tragedy, Romy and Jake said:

"Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren't just our parents; they were our best friends."

They also expressed gratitude for the support they were given at the time:

"We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life," they said, urging the public to maintain empathy as the situation unfolds. "We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave."

Nick Reiner's arraignment has been scheduled for January 7. Tracy Reiner, Rob Reiner's adoptive daughter from his first marriage to Penny Marshall, told NBC News of his demise:

"I came from the greatest family ever. I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock."
