Roy Orbison Jr. is taking a quiet moment to honor his legendary parents. On Dec. 6, he shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, marking the date that both his father, rock icon Roy Orbison, and his mother, Barbara Orbison, passed away — 23 years apart.

Roy Jr. is the son of the iconic singer from his second marriage. On Saturday, he commemorated the day as the most painful for him, writing:

"Today is the saddest day of the year for me. My Dad died December 6, 1988. And my Mother died 23 years later on December 6, 2011. Love You Mom & Dad."

Roy Orbison was a prolific singer in the 1960s and a resurgence in the '80s, known for his hits Oh, Pretty Woman, Crying, Only the Lonely, and more. He passed away in 1988 due to a heart attack. He was 52.

Over two decades later, his wife Barbara died at 61, following her battle with pancreatic cancer.

Roy Orbison Jr. was only 18 when his father passed away. He accompanied his social media post with a black and white photo of his parents carrying him when he was still a baby.

Meanwhile, Roy Orbison was first married to Claudette Frady Orbison, whom he married in 1957. They divorced in 1964, but remained close. She tragically passed away at 24 in his arms after a motorcycle mishap in 1966.

Roy Orbison Jr. unveils holiday album with family

Roy Jr., 55, is a father himself and husband to his wife, Asa, whom he married in Jun 2017. The couple shares four sons: Roy Orbison III, Bo Orbison, Love Orbison, and Sun Jakob Orbison.

On Dec. 1, the family released the holiday album Orbison Family Christmas, which Roy Jr. noted via PR that the project "captured our different personalities."

Asa, a Swedish-born songstress, also reflected on the album creation with the family.

"Creating this album with my family was such a beautiful experience; we managed to capture the true feeling of our Christmas — the joy, the closeness, and the magic we share."

The 9-track album contains: Snowman, I'd Like You For Christmas, Santa Baby, Warm December, Pretty Paper, Frosty The Snowman, Run Rudolph Run, O Christmas Tree, and Christmas Time is Here.

The Orbison family wants to share their festive spirit through a holiday album. Asa revealed:

"Christmas has always been our favorite time of year—a season that fills our home with love, laughter, and the warmth of being together. I know I’ll cherish these moments forever, and I hope the world can feel a little of our Christmas spirit through it, too."
