Television personality and reality TV star Demi Burnett recently opened up about her autism diagnosis and reflected on the online response she received regarding the whole matter. Burnett, who is known for her unfiltered authenticity and charming presence on television, broke the news of her autism diagnosis in February 2022.

Demi garnered mass recognition as a contestant on Season 23 of the popular reality TV series The Bachelor. Despite being eliminated from the show within six weeks, Burnett made a strong and significant impression. However, she recently discussed her autism diagnosis and the online response regarding the matter with People.

The 30-year-old television personality shared that the online response wasn't like how she was expecting it to be. The response on Instagram was satisfactory for her, but the scenario was different on other social media platforms. The reality TV star said:

"Lots of support on Instagram, but then on TikTok, I get all the comments of people being like, ‘You weren't like this on The Bachelor. You really switched it up.’ And I think that they are right in saying that. I was consuming copious amounts of alcohol during The Bachelor, so it should be a great example of seeing how someone can use alcohol to mask.”

However, it has been almost four years since Burnett has not been drinking alcohol and has remained sober. Regarding her fans and viewers in general, Demi said:

(Viewers) can tell I'm playing into a bit of whatever I think everyone wants from me. It's so clearly someone putting on a show than now when I'm being vulnerable and open and raw and real and uncomfortable with all of it. Now it's seen as putting on an act. It's ironic. You can't help but laugh."

Besides starring on The Bachelor Season 23, Demi Burnett has also starred and been a part of other popular reality shows such as Bachelor In Paradise Season 6, The Bachelorette Season 15, Dancing With the Stars, The Celebrity Dating Game, and not to mention, she also made a guest appearance on WWE Raw in 2020.

Burnett has also starred in the recently released Hulu original unscripted reality series, Got To Get Out. She was featured alongside other contestants like Susan Noles, Steve Helling, Rashad Jennings, Spencer Pratt, Kim Zolciak-Biermann and others.

While Demi Burnett confessed her love for reality TV shows, she shared that the medium "is great for neurodivergent people." The reality star further added:

"Everyone thinks no autistic person can ever do a reality show, and I'm like, ‘You have no idea how much an autistic person could thrive actually in that environment because they get support for the first time in their lives.’ Getting all that support on The Bachelor, it was the greatest. I have never been more supported in my life than I am on reality TV. You have people waiting on you hand and foot to get anything you ever need. Reality TV producers are literally the most support you could ever get. I was sobbing when I had to leave, and it wasn't for Colton."
