Australian actress and comedian Rebel Wilson, currently promoting her upcoming movie Bride Hard, recently spoke with Access Hollywood about her experience filming the action comedy — including an unexpected injury that occurred on the very last day of shooting. Directed by Simon West, the film is slated for theatrical release on June 20, 2025.

Bride Hard, which stars Rebel Wilson in the lead role, also features an ensemble cast including Anna Camp, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Stephen Dorff, Anna Chlumsky, among others. The film centers on Sam (played by Wilson), a skilled spy who struggles to fulfill her bridesmaid duties at a friend’s wedding — until a group of armed intruders crashes the ceremony, giving her a shot at redemption as she fights to eliminate them all.

Now 45, Wilson — who is married to fashion designer Ramona Agruma — opened up about the on-set mishap that occurred during a fight scene. She recalled:

"I did have a massive injury on this movie. In a fight scene, a gun accidentally got whacked across my face. It was just a freak accident, and my nose got split open, so I left set. It was really my last night of shooting. I was like, 'How unlucky can I be.'"

The Hustle actress continued:

"The last night of shooting, the last fight sequence, my nose gets busted open, it’s a pool of blood, if anyone has had a facial injury, they know, there’s so much blood."

Although Wilson didn’t specify the scene or the co-stars involved, she added:

"I was freaking out. They take an ambulance and they have to call a plastic surgeon, because if they didn’t, I would have been permanently disfigured. So we got the plastic surgeon, they did all the stitches, and you can’t tell now — really, you can’t tell."

In another interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wilson, the Senior Year star, shared insights into the film’s physically demanding scenes and revealed that she trained for five weeks to prepare for the stunts. Since most of the action unfolds during a wedding, she and her co-stars had to execute these sequences in formal attire — something she described as a unique challenge.

love the poster for this movie, because it's like five women who are dressed in their wedding attire [with weapons], and it is signifying that they're going to go and kick ass looking like that. I think there's something really unique about it. It's challenging to shoot scenes wearing, for me, I had a corset on, plus Spanx, plus quite a tight dress, which is quite challenging to move around.”

She also mentioned Anna Camp, who had to stay in her wedding dress for much of the film. Reflecting on her own wardrobe situation, Wilson said:

"I had four or five dresses we would switch out of, because some of them had to be really big so I could run and do all the things. But it was actually really cool, because normally when you wear a wedding dress, you don't want to get anything on it, and you feel like you can't move. With this one, I was like, 'Let's rip it, throw dirt on me. Let's make this crazy and look super fun.'"

She further added:

"So I liked that part of it for sure, but I never want to put that dress on again. Oh my God. If I saw it hanging right now, I would've run the other direction."
