More about A Deadly American Marriage
A Deadly American Marriage chronicles Jason Corbett, who was murdered on August 2, 2015. The main culprits behind his killing were his wife, Molly Martens, and her former FBI agent, Thomas Martens.
Prior to these events, Jason was married to a lady named Margaret Fitzpatrick (nicknamed Mags), and the couple had two children: a daughter, Sarah, and a son, Jack. Margaret gave birth to Sarah and passed away in November 2006, just a few months after the delivery, due to asthma. Jason had a sister named Tracey who is married to David, and they live in Ireland. After Margaret's passing, Jason named the two in his will and asked them to take care of Jack and Sarah if something happened to him.
In 2008, Molly Martens, who hailed from Tennessee, was hired by him through an agency of au pair agency. The two started seeing each other and got engaged. Jason moved to Lexington in 2011, and they tied the knot. In 2015, Jason was killed by his wife and father-in-law. They initially claimed it was self-defense, but both later pleaded guilty. They were released from prison in June 2024.
A Deadly American Marriage features interviews with Thomas, Molly, Jack, and Sarah, each offering their perspective on the case. The filmmakers also use archival footage, interrogation recordings, and scene recreations to tell the full story.
Over the years, Netflix has released several true crime documentaries that delve deeply into specific cases, providing viewers with thorough, often haunting insights.
