Hulk Hogan allegedly had "no interest" in meeting his daughter Brooke's twins.
The late WWE star died on July 24 of a heart attack. His son-in-law Steven Oleksy, 39, recently told People Magazine that he never met with his and Brooke's twins, Oliver Andrew and Molly Gene, after they were born early this year.
Hulk reportedly had a strained bond with his daughter, 37, though Oleksy, an NHL alum, maintained a relationship with him in case he ever decided to mend their bond. The latter told the outlet that he reached out to the twins' grandfather "about a month and a half after" they were born, to no avail.
"I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest."
Hulk Hogan and daughter Brooke's relationship dynamics explored:
In his interview with People Magazine, Hulk Hogan's son-in-law recalled Brooke's brother, Nick, noting that he would come over to meet the twins at one point, though that never happened. He also said that he and his wife moved closer to Florida to be closer to Hulk, as he "was getting older."
"She was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years. She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense," says Oleksy, sharing that Brooke "took notes from every doctor" that treated her father. "No one understood his body, procedures, medications, and everything else more than my wife," he said.
Us Weekly reported back in April that Oleksy, who recently retired from the NHL, had been trying to speak with Hulk Hogan for years, but the latter never picked up. A source told the outlet at the time that Oleksy was interested in a “man-to-man conversation” with the legendary wrestler several times since he began dating Brooke.
“Unfortunately, that’s never been in the cards,” the source said.
Oleksy and Brooke got hitched in June 2022. Us Weekly recently reported that it could have been Hulk Hogan's divorce from Brooke's mother, Linda, in 2007, that frayed his bond with his daughter.
“The hurt is very, very heavy,” the source added. “Brooke tries to move more and more away from the letdown time and time again.”
Another source told the outlet in March:
"Terry not speaking to Brooke is a much more recent thing," and that Hulk "tells people he doesn't specifically know why Brooke won't speak to him." They continued, "A lot of damage was done during the divorce."
Following Hulk Hogan's demise, Brooke took to Instagram to share a tribute:
"My Dearest Daddy, You were my everything, and I will always be your girl. I am PROUD to be your daughter — for all the love, light, and goodness you brought into this world. Thank you for choosing me in this lifetime, and for loving me so deeply,” she captioned her post. “Our bond is eternal. That truth brings me comfort and hope, even in your absence. I love you more than all the stars in the sky, 4LifeAfterLife.”
Coupled with a string of throwback photos of her and Hulk Hogan, she said of their bond:
“I will remember watching him build my Barbie dream houses, our jet ski rides, laughing till we cried when no one else got the joke, the way he gave me a love and respect or the ocean, the beach, sunsets and the beauty God painted into this life. Wrapping my arms around his big frame always made me feel like his little girl, even as I grew up.”
And even though he never met them, Brooke said she still feels her father's presence in her fraternal twins:
“The greatest gift a father could ever give — A love that goes on … long after we’re gone,” she continued. “But the world he left behind is different than we had imagined.”
As for how things between them went sour, Brooke said they never really had a "big fight":
“It was a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know or understand,” she said. “My father was confiding in me about issues weighing on his heart, both personal and business. I offered to be a life raft in whatever capacity he needed.” Even though she was by his side through several of his surgeries, she felt him retreating: “Everything started getting covered in a thick veil. It was like there was a forcefield around him that I couldn’t get through,” she wrote. “I felt a disconnect. What followed were respectful disagreements that took an emotional toll on me.”
She then explained her decision to “step away” from Hulk Hogan “during the last two years” as a means of protection:
“I know in my heart, I did everything I could. He knew I would run through a burning building for him. And in many ways, along the path of life, I did,” Brooke added. “He knows how deeply, how hard and how purely I loved him. I am at peace knowing this.”
Us Weekly has since reported that Brooke took her name out of Hulk Hogan's will back in 2023.
