Hulk Hogan, who passed away last week on Thursday, suffered multiple health issues and was apprehensive about being seen days before his death.
According to People Magazine, his close friend, former professional wrestler Eric Bischoff, revealed how seemingly embarrassed Hulk Hogan was about his appearance and how he tried to brush off Bischoff's request to visit him a few days before his death.
According to Bischoff, Hogan said:
"I really want to see you, but I'm kind of embarrassed for you to see me this way because I've been pretty sick.'"
Hulk Hogan, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, passed away on July 24 after reportedly suffering a heart attack. As per People Magazine, paramedics were called to the scene, and he was taken to the nearest hospital, but he was later declared dead. Following his death, World Wrestling Entertainment released a statement that read:
"WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans."

According to People Magazine, Hulk Hogan had been suffering from severe health issues in the months leading up to his sudden death at the age of 71. Eric Bischoff, who in the July 29 episode of his podcast, 83 Weeks With Eric Bischoff, spoke about meeting Hogan and noted how weak he looked during their interaction. He said:
"I could tell he was weak. He sounded tired. All he wanted to talk about was business, but in a fun, energetic way. It was work for him to have a conversation but he was the same guy."
He further shared more from their conversation, recalling what he said to the wrestling icon:
"When I look at you, I don't see the same thing you see when you look in the mirror, so f*ck that, I'll be down Monday."
During his podcast, Bischoff also mentioned that he had been looking forward to setting up some interviews for the WWE Hall of Famer. He said:
"I knew it was going to be quite a while before he was going to be able to do interviews. I wanted to leave him looking forward to something."
Previously, during his 2024 appearance on the IMPAULSIVE Podcast hosted by Logan Paul and Mike Majlak, Hogan discussed his health and shared that he had undergone several surgeries over the years. He said:
"I’ve had like 25 surgeries in the last ten years. 10 of them were back surgeries. I’ve had 10 back surgeries, both knees and both hips replaced, shoulders—everything."
Despite his immensely successful career, Hulk Hogan's legacy in recent years was marred by several controversies. He is survived by his third wife, Sky Daily, to whom he had been married since 2023, and his children, Nick and Brooke Hogan.
