Hulk Hogan's health struggles explored as wrestler's rep denies Bubba the Love Sponge rumor that he is dying

Rumors surrounding Hulk Hogan’s impending death recently surfaced on the internet. It all started on the morning of June 18, when radio host Bubba the Love Sponge claimed that the legendary wrestler had been hospitalized and was nearing his end. The radio host, during his morning show claimed,

“I got some pretty reliable information that there are phone calls being made to various family members about getting to town to come say your goodbyes.”

While the radio host clarified that he could not verify the information himself, the conviction with which he relayed the update about Hogan’s health set the rumor mill abuzz. However, Bubba the Love Sponge's claims are unfounded and Hogan's representative has said the wrestler is in good health.

Hogan’s representative was quick to respond to the rumors, telling E! News on June 18 that there were:

“no reasons to panic.”

Hogan's rep added about the wrestler:

“[He] had problems with his back,” for several years now, adding that he underwent neck surgery and the procedure “has indeed been successful.”

Also, as per a statement given by Hogan’s representative to TMZ, there was no new update with regard to the the wrestler’s health apart from the fact that Hogan has been dealing with back issues for a long time. The representative also shared with the publication that Hogan underwent a neck surgery last month which was successful.

Hulk Hogan’s health challenges explored

Being a former professional wrestler, Hulk Hogan is no stranger to medical interventions. According to his own admission, the WWE wrestler has had about 25 surgeries.

However, Hogan has always been candid about the procedures he has undergone. When he appeared on the IMPAULSIVE podcast last year, he revealed to host Jake Paul,

“I’ve had like 25 surgeries in the last ten years. 10 of them were back surgeries… both knees and both hips replaced, shoulders — everything.”

In 2023, Men’s Health explored Hogan’s diet and exercise routine. Titled Gym and Fridge, the special feature in Men’s Health on celebrity diet and home routines took a sneak peak into the legendary wrestler’s life at his home at Clearwater Beach, Florida.

During a video for the feature, Hogan reminisced about the lifestyle changes he has undergone after retiring from professional sports. Hogan shared that retirement inevitably brings about weight gain for a wrestler if changes are not made in one’s daily routine. The wrestler shared,

“When you are sedentary and not wrestling or moving every night, it’s easy to put weight on. So, I decided to drop weight and get down to about 265. Actually, the last time I weighed 265 was in ninth grade.”

During the feature, Hogan also shared with the media outlet the toll that wrestling takes on the body. Hogan shared that his own health issues were not limited to the physical pain that he endured while wrestling.

He also spoke to Men’s Health about the drinking routine that he developed while he was a professional wrestler. According to him, his wrestling routine and his alcohol habit became intertwined. He candidly shared,

“The pre-match meal was, probably, three Miller Lites and two Tylenols.That was the pre-match meal. And then afterwards the post-match meal was probably 12 Miller Lites; so that's how it was.”

Hulk Hogan shared that he quit alcohol before his 70th birthday, which allowed him to shed a significant amount of weight, and become healthy.

According to the wrestler, the pain that he experienced while he was dealing with health issues played an important role in his decision to quit alcohol. Hulk Hogan also shared that his alcohol habit in the past was contributing to his aggressive behavior.
