Renowned British actor Micheal Ward has found himself thrust into controversy after he was charged with multiple counts of rape and s*xual assault. According to official statements from London’s Metropolitan Police, the charges are in relation to the alleged incidents that took place in 2023.

Micheal Ward is best known for his role in "Top Boy", and has been the recipient of the BAFTA Rising Star Award as well. The claims that have already been raised against the actor have stirred up social media and may even lead to dire consequences for the actor as well.

According to the Met Police, Ward will make an appearance at the court on August 28 when a hearing to deal with the charges will be conducted. The authorities have extended their support to the woman who has levelled the allegations and stressed that a fair trial be performed.

Catherine Baccas from the Crown Prosecution Service stated the same through an official statement, in which she said:

"Having carefully reviewed a file of evidence, the Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Micheal Ward, 27, with two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault against a woman in January 2023."

The statement went on to add:

“He will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 28 August 2025. We remind all concerned that proceedings against the suspect are active and he has a right to a fair trial. It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings"

Micheal Ward's statement

While the Metropolitan Police have announced their intentions to proceed with the investigations, Micheal Ward has denied any wrongdoing via a statement of his own. The statement released by Micheal read as follows:

"I deny the charges against me entirely. I have co-operated fully with the police throughout their investigation and will continue to co-operate. I recognise that proceedings are now ongoing, and I have full faith that they will lead to my name being cleared. Given those proceedings, I am unable to comment further."

In light of the recent allegations, Micheal Ward has also dropped by his agency, Olivia Bell Management. The current rape and s*xual assault charges now cast a shadow over his rising career.

Although specific details regarding the accusations are limited due to the fact that the proceedings are still in motion, Ward is set to face the court the following month.
