According to Jeremy Renner, his terrifying accident on New Year’s Day 2023 was a near-death experience. The actor, famous for his role of Hawkeye in MCU, was at his Reno property in Nevada, during the accident. Renner was crushed brutally under his 14,000-pound snowcat while trying to save his nephew from being crushed by the vehicle.
Recently the Oscar-nominated actor, shared his emotions and thought process on the podcast, Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa. What Jeremy Renner shared on the podcast was surprising. He spoke about peace and relief, and, per People, he said:
'And I didn't want to come back, I remember, and I was brought back and I was so p***ed off. I came back, I'm like, "Aww!"'
He explained what he meant by feeling peace before dying.
'It's a great relief is all I can say, it's a wonderful, wonderful relief to be removed from your body. It is the most exhilarating peace you could ever feel. It's the highest adrenaline rush, but the peace that comes with it, it's magnificent. It's so magical.' shared the actor.
Jeremy Renner shares his reflections on life and death, after the accident

Jeremy Renner shared that the few minutes he was unconscious following his 2023 snowcat accident gave him a glimpse of something beyond life as we know it. On the podcast, he described the beyond-life experience as a place where time didn’t exist, adding:
"That's a human experience, time is a human construct… This is so remedial — language, all these things. It’s all knowing, all experiencing, all at the same time, all at once."
The accident nearly claimed Jeremy Renner’s life, which lead to being a turning point for him, not just physically, but philosophically too.
"I gave so much value to things that have zero value, so I invest into no stocks or bonds. I invest not into crypto or Bitcoin. I invest into love and my shared relationships that I experience love with. 'Cause that is the only thing that you take with you." shared the actor.
Jeremy Renner had become the second-most googled person in 2023 after his near-fatal accident with the snowcat. Recently, the Mayor of Kingstown actor, penned his thoughts down on pages, leading to his debut memoir about the accident and its aftermath. My Next Breath by Jeremy Renner, expands on the impact of his sudden suffering.
“I could see my lifetime. I could see everything all at once. It could have been for ten seconds; could have been for five minutes, I know I died. … When the EMTs arrived, they noted that my heart had bottomed out at 18, and 18 beats per minute, you’re basically dead.” he shares in the book.
The actor added:
“Six f**king wheels, seventy-six steel blades, 14,000 pounds of machine, all ranged against one human body, I hear all the bones crack … skull, jaw, cheekbones, molars: fibula, tibia, lungs, eye sockets, cranium, pelvis, ulna, legs, arms, skin, crack, snap, crack, squeeze.”
Jeremy Renner sustained more than 30 broken bones in his snowplow accident, according to a report by Page Six. His injuries included 14 fractured ribs, a broken tibia, a punctured lung, a sliced liver, a spinal fracture, and a dislocated collarbone. He also suffered a serious head wound.
In his memoir, Jeremy Renner reflected on the moment he lay in the snow following the accident:
“I had no full sense then what a hot mess my body was in, the truth was that my collapsed rib cage and my broken and dislocated shoulder and collarbone had worked to compress my lung to the point of suffocation.”
