In a recent interview with Glamour Magazine, actress Carrie Coone shared that she is often cast to play older and "complex and mature" roles because of her decision not to get Botox as well as because of her lower voice, and added that she is often perceived as "verbal, intellectual".
Carrie Coon is a popular American actress; many might have come across her recently in the third season of the popular series, The White Lotus. Some of the titles she has made an appearance in include Gone Girl, Fargo, The Gilded Age, etc. She is the recipient of a Critics' Choice Television Award and was nominated for two Emmys, one Tony, etc.

In a recent interview with Glamour Magazine, published on June 23, 2025, Carrie Coon talked about how she is typecast for complex roles. Coon shared that
"We all have a way we present in the world. The perception of me is that I am verbal, intellectual. My voice is lower and I don’t have Botox, so I tend to play older than I am. And so I’ve always had a gravitas or some authority.”
Talking further, Coon also shared that she is not as "austere or overly introspective" as her characters are and talked about how she is just a "goofball" to her family.
“It’s surprising when they see the sort of goofier, sillier side of me on camera, which very rarely comes out in the roles I play(...) I’m very lighthearted. I’m very silly. I’m a very silly mom.”
In case you are not sure what Botox (aka Botulinum toxin) is, it is a neurotoxin. In cosmetic applications, it is widely used to reduce wrinkles on the face. Getting Botox is not uncommon in the entertainment industry.
Carrie Coon shares that she went from The Whote Lotus's set to The Gilded Age's set in 48 hours
Carrie Coon recently talked about how she had only 48 hours to prepare for the filming of The Gilded Age Season 3 as she travelled from Thailand (where The White Lotus Season 3 was filmed) to the set of The Gilded Age in New York City in just 48 hours.
According to People Magazine, Carrie Coon shared with the publication that
"I went from the one set to the other in 48 hours. I have two children, and they didn't care that I had, you know, jet lag or that I needed to rest or work. So I was woefully underprepared and I had no costumes 'cause I'd been out of the country for six months essentially."
But she further shared that the production team was very accommodating to her situation and helped her ease into her role, while adding that they were very patient with her. According to HBO, The Gilded Age is an American historical drama about the "conflict between old and new in New York City’s glittering Gilded Age." The third season of the show premiered on June 22.
