Country singer Dolly Parton went through a great loss about two months ago. The singer lost her husband of 60 years, Carl Dean, on March 3. While dealing with the loss has been difficult for the Jolene singer, she is now fondly speaking of her husband and talking about her life after his demise.
During a recent appearance on TODAY, from Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Parton ensured to keep smiling throughout the interview. However, she was evidently getting choked up while talking about her late husband.
Dolly Parton mentioned that she often gets emotional while talking about her late husband, as she spent most of her life with him.
"Oh, you know what, I get very emotional when people bring it up. But we were together 60 years. I’ve loved him since I was 18 years old."
Dean passed away at the age of 82. He kept a low-profile life, staying away from the limelight while supporting his wife, who had been a star for decades. The cause of his death was not publicly revealed.
Talking about her life after Dean's passing, Parton mentioned that she has been adjusting while trying to change her habits. Meanwhile, it is her work that is keeping her busy.
"It’s a big adjustment just trying to change patterns and habits. I’ll do fine, and I’m very involved in my work and that’s been the best thing that could happen to me. But I’ll always miss him, of course, and always love him. He was a great partner to me."
Parton also mentioned how she received many letters, flowers, and warm wishes from across the globe and was thankful for them.
"I’m so thankful. I’ve gotten so many cards, letters, flowers, from all over the world. I had no idea Carl Dean was so famous."
Dolly Parton talks about her husband, Carl Dean
A few days after Dean's death, Dolly Parton took to her social media handles to pay him homage. Sharing an old picture with Dean, the country singer mentioned that she fell in love with him when she was 18. Despite her husband's death, their love story will never end as it will live on in their memories and songs.
"I fell in love with Carl Dean when I was 18 years old. We have spent 60 precious and meaningful years together. Like all great love stories, they never end. They live on in memory and song. He will always be the star of my life story, and I dedicate this song to him."
Dolly Parton also dedicated the new song If You Hadn't Been There to her late husband. In her previous interviews, she mentioned that she would have to relearn some of the things that she had done with her husband. She told Knox News,
"I'm doing better than I thought I would. I've been with him 60 years. So, I'm going to have to relearn some of the things that we've done. But I'll keep him always close."
Meanwhile, Dolly Parton has been focusing on her musical career. She is also doing some other work, including releasing her new kids' book starring her pet pooch.
