"I'm so sick of people treating age like it's something that needs to be ignored or changed" - says Judy Greer
While speaking to Flow Space in an article published on May 29, actress Judy Greer highlighted that she'd like to see a change in the way people talk about aging.
Greer talked about Menopause, and noted that she didn't grow up in a house that talked openly about "sex, sexual health, and any of that stuff," and nobody wanted to talk about menopause. However, she has had "really great conversations" with her mom about it,
"I'm so sick of people treating age like it's something that needs to be ignored or changed. Or even treated as something to fear. I remember my mom and dad turning 40 (and seeing) these parties where like, there are tombstones in the front yard. We're smarter and better than that."
Greer also mentioned that there weren't any products for 40-plus women, and when she entered perimenopause, she began "doctor shopping" until she found someone who was "down to party with my (menopause) symptoms."
Judy Greer also wants to change the mentality and stigma of words such as "midlife" or "middle-aged" used to describe reaching 40 and said,
"I'd like to change the words. I'd like to find new words."
However, she later realized that she should not and noted that she'd rather "embrace the words we have."
