"I hate to be out of sync with her" - Kristin Davis says Sarah Jessica Parker taught her you can never be overdressed

Kristin Davis is best known for her role as Charlotte, a main cast member from HBO’s hit film and television franchise from Sex and the City. Davis has made sure to maintain a close relationship with her former co-stars, most notably her lasting relationship with the show's lead, Sarah Jessica Parker.

On a recent episode of her podcast, Are You a Charlotte?, Davis shared some interesting tidbits about their friendship, including the advice Parker imparted on her about her wardrobe: you can never be too overdressed. This is a sensibility that’s very present in Parker’s iconic Carrie Bradshaw character, as Davis claims,

"And I always have to check in with Sarah Jessica. I need to know what Sarah Jessica's gonna wear to our different events, because she might be wearing something that is, like, way dressier than what I pictured in my mind, and I hate to be out of sync with her."

Davis continued by highlighting the nuance in Carrie’s philosophy; while it’s always worth putting effort into looking your best because you never know who you may stumble upon, not worrying about standing out is the more important lesson.

“But in general, the important fact is she doesn't care if she's too dressed up. That is important to know for life and the show.”

"There's a part of me always, like, 'Oh my gosh, why do I have to dress up so much all the time?' But on the other hand, it's fun to dress up. And in life, I really don't dress up at all. So when we haven't worked for a while, then we go back to work and we get to get in all the clothes, I love it so much, because I don't do it that much."

Davis’s podcast has officially kicked off its second season, with a growing audience tuning in for behind-the-scenes tales from the sets of their favorite movies and shows from the franchise.
