In her new Netflix docuseries that premiered on October 9, Victoria Beckham shared her struggles with an eating disorder. The model-singer revealed that she didn't like what she saw when she looked in the mirror and became self-critical.

"I was weighed on national television when Brooklyn was 6 months old. We laugh about it, we joked about it...but I was really, really young, and that hurts."

Victoria was 25 years old at the time,

"I really started to doubt myself and not like myself, because I let it affect me. I didn't know what I saw when I looked in the mirror - you lose all sense of reality. I was just very critical of myself. I didn't like what I saw."

The model also opened up about being publicly bullied and called names like "Porky Posh" or "Skinny Posh."

Sharing her past before the Spice Girls era, she said,

“I was bullied, awkward, wasn’t particularly sociable, I just didn’t fit in…I desperately wanted to be liked.”

Victoria Beckham opens up about her eating disorder

While opening up about what led to her eating disorder and the impact it had on her body and mind, Victoria Beckham said,

"I was controlling (my weight) in an incredibly unhealthy way. When you have an eating disorder, you become very good at lying. And I was never honest about it with my parents. I never talked about it publicly. It really affects you when you're being told constantly you're not good enough."

Elsewhere in the docuseries, Victoria also mentioned that she began feeling concerned about her body image when she was just a teenager, attending Laine Theatre School. In May 2022, during an interview with Grazia, Victoria Beckham explained why she believes it's "old-fashioned" to want to be thin.

"I think women today want to look healthy and curvy (instead)."

Victoria reflected on her journey and noted that being healthy now means "being happy with who you are." She also added that she has found her "own balance between wanting to have fun and being disciplined about eating healthily and working out."

Her latest docuseries follows the model-turned-fashion designer's journey up to her Paris Fashion Week show in September 2024. The series offers a glimpse into Victoria's transition from a Spice Girl to a WAG to a fashion designer.

Victoria Beckham launched her VB label in 2008. In the series, she talks about her passion for her brand and David Beckham's support. Victoria also notes that "this business is everything to me."
