Orlando Bloom, who is now gearing up for the release of his new movie, "The Cut," recently opened up about the difficult physical transformation he had to go through to prepare for his role in the movie.

According to People Magazine, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor gave fans a sneak peek into his preparation for the role, for which he had to lose several pounds, a process that took an extreme toll on his mental health.

In his interview with "This Morning Show," Orlando Bloom said:

"I was just exhausted. Just mentally, physically, I was hangry. I was a horrible person to be around. He added that he had “no energy or brain power."

The Cut follows a former Las Vegas boxer, played by Orlando Bloom, who comes out of his long retirement determined to win a championship after going through a grueling transformation to prepare for the fight. The movie also stars Irish actress Caitríona Mary Balfe and Emmy nominated actor, John Turtorro.

More from Orlando Bloom's new interview, as actor talks about the difficult transformation he had to go through for his role in The Cut

In his recent appearance on "This Morning Show," Orlando Bloom reflected on his weight loss journey while preparing for the role of the once-famed boxer. He talked about surviving for months on a severely restricted diet, which only came down to him eating cucumber and tuna. He said:

“Suddenly, all these foods were being taken away from me, and my protein powder was the last one. I was like, ‘No! Don’t take that one.’ Then basically I came down to [eating] just tuna and cucumber for the last three weeks.”

He added:

"We’re supposed to eat and sleep and take care of ourselves. It’s really a commentary on the lengths a person will go to have that second shot. I think that’s so relatable.”

The "Troy" actor further revealed that he previously suffered from bouts of paranoia, while preparing for the role, adding that there were periods he could not sleep properly cause he felt hungry. He said:

“Turns out you can’t sleep when you’re hungry."

In his exclusive interview with People Magazine, which was published earlier this month on August 11, Orlando Bloom discussed the intense discipline and rountine he had to follow to successfully pull off his role, for which he lost thirty lbs over a short period of three months. He said:

"What I hadn’t expected and was surprised by was the mental toll that this kind of intense discipline takes. The paranoia and anxiety were very real and disturbing, caused by the lack of sleep - turns out you can’t sleep when you’re hungry!"

The film was previously premiered at the Toronto Film Festival on September 5, 2024, and is now gearing up for a theatrical release all across the US, next week, on September 5, 2025.
