Armie Hammer drew attention after joking about “poisoning people” on the July 28 episode of his Armie HammerTime podcast. The 38-year-old Call Me By Your Name star discussed his heavy marijuana use. He stated that he used to consume “upwards of 15 to 20 joints a day” and regularly got people “too stoned to stand.”
Speaking about this, he joked:
“I loved poisoning people.”
While reminiscing about his marijuana usage, Hammer quipped:
“I loved marijuana roofie-ing people."
Alluding to Rohypnol, a sedative commonly used for unlawful incapacitation, he said:
“I loved poisoning people.”
Despite his pal Ashton Ramsey’s advice to “self-censor” and “say that,” Armie Hammer subsequently claimed that his phrase was intended to depict consuming marijuana with others until they were unable to “find their feet”:
“I loved smoking marijuana with people to the point where they were like, ‘I’m so stoned, I can’t find my feet.”
He said that he “smoked more marijuana than anyone on earth” and it “was probably true.” He also stated that he “loved other people smoking with him.”
Armie Hammer also shared his marijuana anecdotes involving Hollywood stars. One incident he shared included Johnny Depp, whom he got “super stoned before a press junket” for The Lone Ranger.
Hammer said:
“They never let me hang out with Johnny on the press tour after that. They would always keep us apart."
He added:
“They never let us do press together. They were like, ‘You two cannot hang out anymore!'”
Armie Hammer’s latest podcast Joke Sparks backlash four years after rape and cannibalism allegations
Armie Hammer’s comments come four years after his career suffered significant setbacks following rape and cannibalism allegations made by his ex-girlfriend Effie Angelova. He has consistently rejected the allegations, telling AirMail in 2023 that his connection with Angelova involved a “consensual scene.”
Hammer was going through his divorce from his ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers, at the time. He and Chambers share two kids: one daughter named Harper, who is 10 years old, and a son named Ford, who is 8 years old.
Since launching his podcast last year, Hammer has addressed the public’s ongoing interest in the story. During the premiere in October 2024, he commented:
“I’m not going to lie, I kind of like the cannibal stuff now. I’m just like, ‘Hey, I’m a cannibal.'”
