AMAs host Jennifer Lopez knows what performance she is looking forward to the most.

Lopez spoke to People Magazine about her own past American Music Awards performances as she hosts this year's ceremony on Monday night, May 26:

“I'm always [there] as a fan. I love artists and getting to know them and being around them and just celebrating the different things that everybody does,” she says. “I really am a believer in lifting other people up and celebrating great work so I’m very excited to do that too this year.”

As for who she is most excited to see, the 55-year-old actress cum songstress said she has always been a huge fan of Janet Jackson, 59, who is set to be honored with the ICON Award. Speaking ahead of what will be the latter's first televised performance since 2018, Lopez said:

“I want to see all of them, [but] obviously I’m a huge Janet fan. I’m excited to see Janet. I haven’t seen her in years, and I’m glad that she’s being celebrated, too.”

Jennifer Lopez reflects on what she is most excited for at this year's AMAs

This Tuesday, May 13, the Love Don’t Cost a Thing singer took to Instagram to reveal she had sustained a facial injury while rehearsing for her performance at this year's AMAs. In a selfie of her holding an ice pack up to her right eye, Lopez, 55, wrote:

“So this happened…” before posting a second image that revealed a swollen nose and cut that ran across it. Her right eye also appeared to be bruised, with Lopez captioning the photo, “(During @amas rehearsals).”

In another photo, redness can be seen between her eye and right cheek. In yet another Instagram story, Jennifer Lopez revealed she required stitches to help with her recuperation as she thanked her facial plastic surgeon:

“Thank you for stitching me up Dr. Diamond. A week later and a whole lotta ice, I’m good as new.”

As reported by People Magazine, the last time Lopez hosted the event was in 2015. This year, she told the outlet she is also excited to witness Gloria Estefan perform some of her greatest hits.

“I remember having a good time with it and they asked me to do it again this year,” she said.

Jennifer Lopez added:

“I’ve been working on a lot of music, and it just seemed like a good time. I just love all the music that’s out right now. I love that they’re honoring Gloria Estefan as well, who was kind of a pioneer of crossover. It seems like a really beautiful year to celebrate.”

In addition to Jennifer Lopez, Blake Shelton, Benson Boone, and Gwen Stefani will also perform at this year's AMAs.
