The Long Walk is the forthcoming film in the dystopian horror thriller genre. The film is an adaptation of Stephen King's 1979 namesake novel, which he wrote under the name of Richard Bachman. This Francis Lawrence-directed film, written by JT Mollner, is set to release on September 12, 2025, by Lionsgate.
Ahead of its release, actor Judy Greer, who plays Mrs. Garraty, spoke about her reaction after watching the film for the first time. The viewing experience viscerally affected her as she said,

Judy Greer portrays Mrs. Garraty in the upcoming film The Long Walk. She recently spoke to ScreenRant about her reaction upon watching it for the first time. Greer said:
"I watched the movie yesterday for the first time, and Iām so f***ed up. I came home in a daze, and my husband's like, āDo you want to go for a walk?ā And Iām like, āYeah, I think I need to go for a walk.ā Which is ironic, but it actually did help clear my head."
She further showered praise on the creators for the film's storytelling.
"I was so moved by how powerful the story is in its simplicity. I felt so respected by the filmmakers, honestly, as an audience member - even though I'm in it. That doesn't often happen anymore."
The Long Walk is produced by Francis Lawrence, Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, and Cameron MacConomy. Its official synopsis, as per Letterboxd, reads,
"Every year, fifty teenage boys meet for an event known throughout the country as "The Long Walk." Among this yearās chosen crop is āMaineās Own,ā Ray Garraty.
