The 36-year-old actor, Glen Powell, appeared on the September 23 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which marked the return of the late-night host a week after it was preempted by ABC. Kimmel's show was axed by ABC for Kimmel's comments on political activist and Trump ally Charlie Kirk's death.
In his monologue last week, Jimmy Kimmel said,
"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it."

During his September 23 episode, Jimmy Kimmel introduced the actor and apologized to him for pulling him "into the middle of all this." However, Powell showed support to Kimmel and said,
"I'm honored. I'm just so happy you're back"
During the appearance, Powell opened up about his pre-fame days when he initially moved to Los Angeles in 2008. Powell recalled that at the time Kimmel and his producer Diane Kelson would give him access to the green room, where he would have a "feast" when he couldn't "afford snacks or alcohol."
Kimmel responded jokingly and asked the actor to repeat the story in a way that makes it sound like he "saved" his life.
Jimmy Kimmel slams Donald Trump in powerful monologue
Jimmy Kimmel opened his September 23 episode with a powerful monologue, which lasted more than 15 minutes. In the monologue, Kimmel apologized for his comments on Kirk and also accused US President Donald Trump and his administration of silencing free speech.
"The president made it very clear he wants to see me and the hundreds of people who work here get fired. Our leader celebrates Americans losing their livelihoods because he can’t take a joke."
He then accused Trump of having a say in Paramount axing Stephen Colbert's show.
"He was somehow able to squeeze Colbert out of CBS, then he turned his sights on me, and now he’s openly rooting for NBC to fire Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers and the hundreds of Americans who work for their shows who don’t make millions of dollars. I hope that if that happens, or if there’s even a hint of it happening, you’ll be 10 times as loud as you were this week. We have to speak out.”
After Trump got wind of Jimmy Kimmel's return, he took to his Truth Social account on September 23 in a rant where he said that Kimmel's talent is "GONE" and that it was "never there." He also said Kimmel is "not funny" and puts the network in jeopardy by "playing 99% positive Democrat GARBAGE." He also allegedly warned the network and said that he will "test ABC."
ABC's parent company, The Walt Disney Co., announced Jimmy Kimmel's return in a September 22 statement, noting that they made the decision after having "thoughtful conversations" with Kimmel during the one-week break.
